About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To real-ize the truth that the only limits which exist are those which the mind accepts.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in rural central Texas as a total Sci Fi nerd, ended up getting into computers and philosophy, and eventually went to Northwestern University where I got my bachelor's. Now I'm working as a web developer for a startup in Chicago as a remote contractor, so I've taken advantage of the freedom by unloading most of my possessions and hitting the road. Have laptop will travel!
PHILOSOPHY
Well, I'm a philosophy nerd, which I think makes it a bit difficult to really pin down what my personal philosophy is, but I guess if I had to, I'd say that it is just a general openness to new people, experiences, ideas, and ways/modes of being.
I live my life to find and then transcend my limits and with any luck to help others do the same, because it seems to me that this is what a life is for -- growing and encouraging growth in turn.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For now, surfing and sharing with those that are gracious enough to host me.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed with a couple hosts in India and had a fantastic time. They told me about things to see and do that I never would have known about otherwise. I think my couchsurfing experiences in India were some of my best times.
Interests
I'm pretty much interested in everything that's interesting. These days that mostly means guitar, vedantic & buddhist philosophy, optimizing my work life for maximum efficiency, tattoos, cooking (I make a mean daal taadka), sustainable living, and striving to more fully integrate the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of my life.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't watch too many movies these days...haven't had a TV in too long, but I'm a huge music freak and I've loved reading since before I could read (no seriously, I used to lie on the couch as a kid, thumbing through my parents novels and making up stories for myself since I couldn't read the words).
Music I like: Townes Van Zandt, Waylon Jennings, Neil Young, The Silver Jews, Pavement, the J&MC, My Bloody Valentine, Minor Threat, Fugazi, the wipers... really just anything that has some soul.
Books: Huge sci fi fan...Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Phillip K. Dick, Frederick Pohl, William Gibson, Neil Stephenson, RAW, etc. etc.
On the non-fiction front, I'm into thinkers/writers like Alan Watts, D.T. Suzuki, David Loy, Stan Grof, Daniel Pinchbeck...the list could go on forever, but this is the general gist.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Summited a 5000m peak in the Indian Himalaya.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've been playing guitar for perhaps 13 years or so, all self-taught, and would be interested in teaching and learning anything and everything I can about it. I'm also a linux aficionado and a programmer, which are things I love to share/explain to people who are interested.
I'd love to learn anything at all about urban gardening, how to play the harmonica, photography, lanaguages...I really just love learning things, so anything and everything would be great.
