About Me

I'm a Brazilian young adult who grew up in the country side of the state of São Paulo and experienced the beauty of travelling and culture exchange for the first time at 16 years old, when I went on an exchange program to California. Since then, travelling has helped me open my mind and push my boundaries towards learning about the beauty the world has to offer.

I quit my job at Google Brasil in June 2017 and have been traveling since then getting to know the world, studying permaculture, community living and yoga.

I've been around Brazil for six months last year, and this year have been in India for two months - studying yoga and working with natural building techniques -, in England for three months - working at Schumacher College - and from 10th of July I've been on the road through Europe (been in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and now am in Italy), always staying with friends and friends of friends (or friends of friends of friends) and it's the best thing I could do to really have a "local" point of view of the places I go.

And couchsurfing is definitely a tool for such experiences to happen! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For a while I've been questioning our social and economic paradigms regarding what's private and what's shared among people and specially on needing money to do things. I've known couchsurfing forever but now, more than ever, it made sense for me to become a part of this community to learn how to let go of the need for space or things to call mine and focus on sharing with others the life I lead - be it opening my house to people or going to stay with them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm definitely in love all sortes of Brazilian music - forró, frevo, samba, bossa nova, mpb, baião, xote. Some of my favorite artists are Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Marcelo Camelo, Luiz Gabriel Lopes and Tulio Borges.
I'm not a big movie guy but I've watched the recently released Captain Fantastic twice because of how much I identified with it.
One of my favorite books is "Marighella, o guerrilheiro que incendiou o mundo", a biography about a Brazilian figure who fought for the freedom and justice in Brazil and was killed by the military dictatorship in 1969.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Revolutionized my world view in the past 6-7 years, going from a conservative, sexist, prejudicial, unhealthy and sedentary narrow-view mindset to a broader point of view that aims to empathize with people and their reality without reacting to it. That's a process that was possible by reflecting about my behaviors - personally and socially - and their impacts on me and on society. That's allowed me to change my routine, becoming a vegan, a yoga teacher, a meditation practicioner and, most of all, someone who respects other humans - regardless of what they seem to be at first.
