About Me

Hello, my name is Felipe, and I'm from Brazil. I'm currently living in Orlando, studying here since the Fall of 2016. I have Japanese ancestors, that's why the different last name haha. Passionate about life, I love a good adventure, and I love being in contact with nature. I always liked to draw, craft, and make some arts. Music keeps me running all day long, right now I'm trying to learn how to play acoustic guitar. I like to meet new people, and I like to help others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be honest, because I'm a student. Haha, Resources are scarce, and I can't work in the U.S. due to my student visa. So, Couchsurfing appeared in my life recently and lightened a hope in me, that I could travel around the U.S. (or even the world) without spending the money I don't have, with the advantage of meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have one favorite music. I'm very eclectic, but I do have some favorite artists: John Mayer, James Bay, Natiruts (Brazilian Artist), Tiago Iorc (Brazilian Singer too) and many others. Besides these, I also like all the other genres of music; it always depends on my mood which one to listen.
Talking about movies: I like Captain Fantastic, excellent movie; The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, what I like in this film are the landscapes which are fantastic; Avatar; Superheroes movies (Marvel, DC Universe); Sherlock Holmes (TV show); Prison Break (TV show); Inception;
I don't have the habit to read a lot, so I don't have any favorite book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing and fulfilling things that I've done until today was watching the night sky at the beach in Brazil, with my girlfriend and friends. I've never seen a sky like that before; we could see countless stars, we could also see a little of the blur of the Milky Way! It was also my first time viewing a shooting star. It wasn't only one. Right on my first time, I was lucky to see at least ten shooting stars with them. All of this, listening to some calm music, while we were all lied down at the fluffy sand. What a moment!

Teach, Learn, Share

Every person that I've met in my life taught me something. I feel that within myself there is a part of everyone that passed through my life. There are some moments that my actions remind me of someone that I've met because I see that what I'm doing is what they would do. A lot of things that I do, I've learned with someone in my life. That's amazing, I've changed a lot since I began to realize that I was learning from people. There was a guy that I've met at a class in Brazil; he was most of the time happy and laughing. I've never seen a person with such a good heart than his. He was always doing community works, such as volunteer work, charity work, homeless projects and so on. We used to have lunch together almost every day at a buffet near the School. Every day there was a different variety of food, but he was very humble, and I've never seen him complaining. There was one day that I complained: "Oh the food doesn't look good today." He just turned to me, smiled and said: "Just eat it, bro, from where I came from we eat anything, we don't lose time complaining, we just be thankful for having anything to eat." Since that day I began to think twice before complaining about anything. Unfortunately, I moved to another country, and I don't usually see him, but I've learned a lot of other things with him. Besides him, there were a lot of other examples that it impacted positively in my life, such good experiences. Thus, I hope to always keep learning from people. I think life is made by relationships, interactions between others. These experiences are much more valuable than material goods.
