Overview
About Me
My name is Felipe and I'm 23 years old. I'm a third year student at Universidad Mayor in Chile. I'm a passionate teacher and a nature enthusiast. I love languages and that is why I decided to become an English teacher. Being fluent at English was my first step to come closer to other languages and cultures. I've hosted many exchange students so I know very well what are the most exciting places for foreigners to visit in Santiago. I can help you with the language since I love to teach, give you a tour or simply provide you with some company.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I got on couchsurfing because I'm travelling to England on January 2017 and need a place to stay. I'm going there attracted mainly by the culture so my interest is not being a typical turist spending lots of money in fancy restaurants. Also, when I heard about it I just loved the idea. I think is a very modern website that can help to have a more friendly world. I simply would love to be part of this community!
Interests
My topics of interest are education and languages mainly. I also feel very attracted by the different culture that every country has. I love to travel and going to new places.
Music, Movies, and Books
Since I'm latin I love joyful music like salsa, bachata, cumbia, etc. I also love English music. I play the guitar and love to sing, so basically any song that I can play in my guitar is OK for me. I'm not really into movies but sometimes I like going to the theater. Regarding books, I love to read! I don't have a specific genre but I like reading things that can help me to learn something new. In consequence, I don't really like fantasy or fiction. Among my favourites books I can mention the Da Vinci Code, A 100 Years of Solitude, The lord of the rings (Yes, I know I said I didn't like fantasy but this is an exception haha), and The Little Prince.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once I went with eleven friends to the north of Chile. We were former highschool mates and it was something that was born spontaneously. None of us had been to the Chilean desert, nor Peru or Bolivia. We thought it would be great to go so we started planning inmediatly. We went to the magnificent Chilean Desert and met San Pedro de Atacama. We swam in a salty lake and walked throughout enormus salty lands. We had tours on bikes, we did sandboard and tried some awesome typical food. After that we went to Peru and there we got to know amazing antique structures, like a bridge made by the natives of the area thousands of years ago. Our last stop was Uyuni, Bolivia. Probably you have seen pictures of it and thought it looks amazing. Well, it is! I just don't have words to describe it. It is simply a marvelous place that everybody who like travelling should know!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching languages so if you want to come to Chile attracted by the tongue I think I am your perfect host! I also know Santiago extremely well since I've lived here all my life. Right now I'm interested in the German language. Unfortunately, I can't share my flat but I can share all my knowledge to teach you a language. I would love to accompany visitors to nice touristic places in Santiago too. I don't have my own flat but I do have a car so I can also drive you if needed.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As said before, I don't have my own flat but I've got a car. I can take you to the best places in Santiago since I know the city as the back of my hand. Probably I can't be your personal cab, but I can pick you up at the airport or after a night out! I can accompany you wherever you want to go. I'm a very social and talkative person and I think that sharing some time with somebody from another country is an extremely good way to understand other cultures.
