About Me

Hello, my name is Andrés Chiguasuque, a Colombian traveler and indigenous journalist. I'm passionate about discovering new cultures, immersing myself in the places I visit, and connecting with people from all around the world. My heart beats to the rhythm of nature, music, and history.

I'm thrilled to uncover projects where I can contribute and, if needed, work to fund my travels and explore various professions. I'm open to all proposals, as long as they are balanced and beneficial for everyone involved.

I have a genuine interest in enriching the lives of those who offer me their hospitality. If you decide to host me, rest assured that you'll have a home in my house in Colombia or wherever I am if I have the opportunity to do so. The possibilities of staying with locals are truly fascinating. Cultural immersion, the chance to share experiences, save on accommodation, and establish new connections are reasons that motivate me to be an active Couchsurfing guest.

I'm eager to meet amazing people through this platform and enjoy the beautiful mystery we call life. I hope to have the chance to get to know you and share unforgettable moments together!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I can make meaningful connections with interesting people around the world. I want to travel and immerse myself in different cultures, and I believe the best way to do that is by meeting people who call those places home.

Interests

I greatly enjoy understanding local culture, as it seems to be the most significant aspect of traveling. This involves exploring their food, musical tastes, and general ideas. Because of this, I truly relish visiting museums, historical sites, and tourist attractions. Following cultural experiences, my next passion during my travels is embracing nature—experiencing its climates, mountains, rivers, seas, and deserts. I believe this fills my heart with joy and leaves me speechless. I'm also a sports enthusiast, from running in the city to extreme activities in the mountains. I practice Slacklining, so I could even teach you a thing or two about balance.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm passionate about Latin music—salsa, cumbia, and vallenato flow through my veins. Yet, I also get thrilled by rock and roll and all the genres stemming from it. However, I'm open to any kind of music; I love discovering new genres, especially those that are local to the places I visit. The last book I read is "Ebano" by Ryszard Kapuściński, an adventure through Africa that only fueled my wanderlust. I must admit, I'm an avid reader and find great joy in books on personal development as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've lived in the Amazon, and one day an Ocelot surprised me at night, feasting on the chickens in the house where I lived. It was something I never thought would happen in my life. I've truly had some wonderful experiences; I've traveled across Colombia without money and have learned the kindness and the significance of energetic resonance for connecting with people. Now, there's also my passion for highlining, a beautiful form of meditation in the air, between two mountains.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach both my native language, Spanish, and also English. I know how to play some Latin songs on the guitar that I would love to share. I can also guide you through a yoga session and introduce you to breathing techniques using the Oxigen Advantage method. Cooking and doing the dishes are also within my skill set. :)
