About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn more about the world both through my own experiences and through the view of others.

ABOUT ME

I (like to) consider myself a very friendly and funny guy, always willing to explore the unknown.

Experiencing new things is always appealing to me, such getting to know new food, weather, customs and the cultures of the world. I really enjoy meeting new people, and most importantly, chatting with people; learning from others and listening to their stories are things that I really appreciate since everyone's life stories are worth listening to and I can learn a lot from those.

I am definitely not a party animal, but I enjoy going out once in a while (I prefer bars and pubs rather than parties, though). What I really love is to go out with people, have a drink or eat something, and chat.

I may be a little shy in the beginning when I don't people well, but as soon as I feel comfortable with you, I open up and become a big talker. Sometimes I may be a little too talkative, in fact.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, surfing and meeting people. Unfortunately I am not able to host at the moment I work at a university and live on campus. But as soon I return to my Florianópolis, I might host again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had quite a few experiences with Couchsurfing. I couchsurfed through California in 2013 and in Europe in 2015, and around the US in this last year. I have hosted some people with my friends here in Florianopolis (they were hosted at a time I was not using Couchsurfing, so they were 'officially hosted' through my roommate's profile, and that's why I don't have many references). I have only had positive experiences so far and I have always been incredibly lucky with my hosts/guests.

Interests

Languages, cultures, literature, movies and traveling. When I was a teenager I was really into Japanese culture, and even though I do not have that much time to explore this area of interest anymore, I still get really excited when people start talking about something related to Japan.

I have recently become very interested in the lusophone world, especially in the culture and history of the Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa.

I am kind of obsessed with drag at the moment.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - The Hunger Games, Inception, Citizen Kane, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Orphan, Devil Wears Prada, Brazilian movies, and many others; these are the ones that automatically came to my mind when I was updating my profile. I also love anime.

Books - Tolkien, Harry Potter, C.S. Lewis, Lewis Carroll, 1Q84. I really enjoy books that take place in a reality different from ours. I grew up with these books, so they have a special place in my heart.

Music - I really like most genres. But I guess pop/rock is my favorite. I enjoy some Brazilian genres that are actually very different from one another, such as Brazilian funk, MPB, Bossa-nova and Axé. I have been listening to a lot of Kizomba lately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am a teacher and I absolutely love it. And I like to believe that teaching is amazing and rewarding.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always in the hope of learning a lot from guests and hosts through Couchsurfing and it will inevitably happen as every person always shares at least a bit of his/her world.

I also look forward to teaching people about my culture and my language (linguistics person here, I love to talk about language). I can also teach some recipes in case I can get the ingredientes (I enjoy cooking. I am not a great cook, though)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can always share a laughter and a nice talk :)
