About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make new friends and laugh a lot
ABOUT ME
I'm a loud person who talks too much, live too fast, and really enjoys having lots of friends around.
PHILOSOPHY
I try to consider myself a very open-minded person, and like to be surrounded by open-minded people as well, from any background, philosophy or religion. I may not agree with your ideals (or aprove them), but i try my best to respect yout right to think different than me. And i expect the same courtesy.
I consider myself an Agnosthic Atheist, wich means i do not believe in god (or better: i DO believe that god DOES NOT exist) but accept that are some things we can't explain, so i don't waste time trying to make reason of it. But i believe in concepts like right and wrong, and that you're free to do whatever you want if you're not hurting anyone on the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've never officially couchsurfed, but hosted a few CSers and am no stranger to the idea of having people i just met spending the night on the sofa or on a floorbed. Have been doing this since a teenager and have no reason to stop doing it anytime soon. But now i can find these people on an online community, instead of stranded on a bar or party.
I also attended weekly the São Paulo meetings while i was living there, and organized in 2012 the Floripa Invasion (as well as helped with the 2013 edition and some events for CSers in 2014's carnival). I'm close friends with some of the most active CSers from my town, so i always try to lend a hand when i know there are some "official" activity going around.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I made some good friends at the meetings and helped organising two CS Invasions at my hometown (Florianopolis).

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a total nerd and addicted to sci-fi, high fantasy, and anything nerd-related. Comic Books are my great passion: not only i have a huge collection of graphic novels but i'm also a comic book writer and i teach comics language.
My top three favorite movies are Sunset Boulevard, Chinatown and Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf, but i also love silly comedies from the 80's and low budget action flicks from any age. Star Wars is almost a religion (ignore the prequels!!!!), Doctor Who is an obsession and Marvel is waaaaay better than DC, always.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing i ever done was getting married. It may sound silly, but i was never raised with the idea that one should marry, have kids, find a good job. My mother mostly wanted us to be happy, doing whatever we needed in order to achieve joy.
Also, i kinda blackmailed my wife into it :P She didn't want to marry me, or anybody, for that matter. But i gave her an ultimatum and she had to say yes. She also said: "just tell me day and hour and probably i'll show"; so i had to plan everything without her help. But it was worth it, since she's the woman of my life and that was the happiest day of my life.
Some time after i wrote this profile i met the other most important person of my life, my daughter Gabriela. We actually met when she was 17, and enrolled in one of my classes. Shortly, a friendship between teacher and student became a pure and deep love between adopted father and daughter, and she has given me much pride and joy since then.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to read... a lot. And to watch lots of movies, series, documentaries... And i usually talk a lot about the subjects i like. Some people may find me somewhat arrogant or pedant because of it, but that's just me being me and enjoying a good topic.
Also, i'm a teacher, so it's not uncommon for me to lose myself on a topic and accidentally transform a small talk on a lecture. :P
Feel free to prove me wrong on any topic, I actually like when that happens, so i can keep on learning new things. I only know that i know nothing, right? :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I live in a small but comfy house about 200 meters from the sea. We only have two bedrooms, but sofa-beds, air matresses and floorbeds can always be arranged for guests. Also, there's a small guesthouse in the back that we rent to tennants so it can help us pay the bills. :) When it's unoccopied, it can house up to three people.
Most of the time I won't be able to receive more than a single guest, unless there's some CS event in town, when i'm glad to do some effort to lighten up the load of other hosts. Also, my wife and I have some special circumstances regarding her health, so it's not guaranteed i'll be able to host anyone all the time, even if there's a vacancy.
I live in a small neighborhood by the beach, with almost no buildings higher than two floors and little to nothing to do after dark. Buses comes and goes every hour, and stops running little before midnight. Also, i do not drive, nor have a car. So, if you are to stay here, you're probably on your own regarding any attempt to hit Floripa's night life, and chances are that you won't be able to get back before 6 a.m., unless you take a somewhat expensive uber. During the day, feel free to enjoy the calm sea with almost no waves, the clean and unclustered sand strip, and the local restaurants. You can also hit the beaches nearby, by bus or by foot (it's a pretty enjoyable and short trip to Jurerê International walking by the sea), wich you problably will have to if you want to find any drugstore, banks or supermarkets. It is very fair to assume i'll have sobe cold beer on the refrigerator, so we can just hang out and talk, if you prefer. But remember that this is not a motel, or a b&b: cook your own food, do your dishes, take regular baths (it's a common habit for us brazillians), keep your stuff well organised, don't sleep all the time, try to socialize, and don't take anything without asking first. I'm not against recreational drugs, but i have elderly neighbors and this is, after all, a small community. So if you wanna do it, be discreet, or do it elsewhere.
It's important to note that I made some really good friends thanks to CouchSurfing, even before i was officially a host or a guest. So their opinions and suggestions is much more important than anything on this site. Lots of times i hosted people who were recommended to me by other couchsurfers and i intend to keep it that way. If i've never heard of you, nor did any of my friends/acquaintances from CS, I probably won't host you. Simple as that.
Be also aware that couchsurfing is something i do for fun, and that the only thing i take from it is the joy of meeting new people and exchange stories and experiences. I'm not obligated to host anybody, or to give them a reason not to, for all that matters. Most of the requests will simply be rejected, no explanation given. If your request to stay at my place was denied, just deal with it.
But if i've accepted it anyway, i do hope you enjoy your stay and we can create, together, some found memories. I'm passionate about books, comics, movies and games, and i keep a huge collection of these items that are fully available for you while you stay here. I also like to drink, talk shit and party, so count me in for a good night out. And keep a slot open for me in your contacts. Chances are that we become good friends for a long time.
