About Me
Dear people,
before the end of September/the beginning of October I will not be able to host anyone, as I will be travelling until then myself.
When I am back, I will be receiving guests again.
Have a good time everyone! :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have joined Couchsurfing because end of August (2018) I am travelling to San Francisco. Since I am travelling all by myself I hope to find some lovely people here with whom to spend time there and possibly a host for the time of my stay. I am very excited about this journey as it will be by far the most distant I have ever travelled and I have been dreaming of visiting San Francisco during the last years. So I am hoping to see you there! :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is very important to me since I am a musician myself. However, as some friends of mine once pointed out, I am a kid of the 90s, which means that the music I make is heavily influenced by this era. It also means that I rather keep listening to 'the old stuff' than constantly exploring new music. So the music I like mostly falls into the Alternative/New Rock category.
To give you an idea I am listing a couple of bands here: Incubus, Creed, Audioslave, Alter Bridge, Pearl Jam, Muse, The Stone Temple Pilots, Disturbed, Black Stone Cherry and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. When I was younger I loved 4Lyn, Papa Roach, Alien Ant Farm, Staind and Linkin Park a lot. If it comes to pop music I like Panic at the Disco, Dave Matthews, the late Johnny Cash, Zaz, Lana del Rey, The John Butler Trio and George Ezra (an amazing live singer).
The most wild rock 'n' roll live-shows I have enjoyed were by Papa Roach, Billy Talent, 4Lyn and The Beatsteaks.
To me of utmost inspiration for their incredible singing are Brandon Boyd, Eddie Vedder, Scott Stapp and Chris Cornell. I have deeply mourned the death of Chris Cornell. Unbelievable as it may seem since I have never met him personally, to me it felt like losing a friend.
Although I am generally more into male voices, I have recently been amazed by the music of Lera Lynn and Larkin Poe.
I could hardly point out a single book or movie as my favourite.
With respect to movies, I have recently been struck by 'Bladerunner 2049'. Everything about this movie is magnificent - the acting, the speed of storytelling, the scenery/spots of production, the colours and the special effects. Every aspect of it is outstanding.
Apart from that, I am a big fan of Hugh Jackman and his intense acting. Generally, I regularly watch movies and usually prefer them to Netflix series and TV shows.
I also like to read, mostly novels, not necessarily a specific genre, though. Recently, among the books I have most enjoyed is Andrej Kurkows 'The Gardener of Ochakov'.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am aware that I am adressing a community of people who are presumably travelling a lot and who have most likely travelled farther than I have.
Nonetheless, up until this point, walking the Way of Saint James in 2009 has been my most amazing travelling experience. Taking almost two months to walk a distance of approxximately 1000km is a way of travelling that is both very down-tempo and intense. On the way, I basically got the see the whole of central Spain from the Pyrenees to the sea. It is fantastic to observe how the landscape changes when crossing an entire country.
Moreover, I got to meet a group of people my age from all over the world and spend several intimate weeks with them. Starting the Camino all on my own, I made friends with those lovely people from France, Québec, Germany, Australia, Slovakia, the USA and Korea, some of whom I have since seen again.
I went there not very well-prepared and was terribly in need of help by locals at the beginning. The way those people helped me out of my self-created misery was astonishing. This journey has truely strengthened my trust in people and still fills my heart until today.
