About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet, Travel, Learn, Live free

ABOUT ME

Since I sit in front of a computer all day at work, getting outside, working with my hands, and challenging myself physically and mentally are the my favorite things to do during my time off. I enjoy, in no particular order: traveling (duh!), woodworking and building various things, reading, snowboarding, hiking, cooking and eating great food, rock climbing, meeting new people and hanging out with my good friends... and more of course!

I love learning and trying new things any chance I get. As such, I know a lot of awesome things to do and places to eat in Portland.

My current living situation doesn't doesn't always allow me to host people (although I can on occasion so feel free to ask!) but I would love to meet people who are visiting the area to show them a good time!

PHILOSOPHY

It's hard to put into words, but basically:

Be honest as much as possible.

Keep an open mind and make your own opinions based on your own experiences, not someone else's.

I like to think of life like a video game - have fun while you're playing and try not to die.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have two great couches for folks to sleep on but due to my current living situation, will be mostly meeting up with travelers to show them around town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I would call myself a beginner as I've only met a couple of people from CS, although I have to say, it was an amazing experience! My recent trip to Brazil was great but thanks to the help of a couple CSers, it was wayyy better :) I hope I can contribute in some similar way for others.

Interests

Lots of stuff! I know I said a few of these above, but here we go again: Awesome food & cooking, rock climbing, photography, hiking, snowboarding-ok... really anything outdoorsy-, music, playing music, video games, reading, the beach, playing and watching various sports, computers, building things. That's good enough for now.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite author: Haruki Murakami
Music: Everything good. I've got a large music collection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are too many awesome things I've seen which I have pictures of in my head. It's not necessarily one thing that strikes me as all-out amazing. It's the fact that I can continue to be amazed no matter what new place I visit.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to cook with things that you wouldn't have thought to cook with. I'm good with electronics and can teach you how to install a car stereo or how to put together a computer. Really, I can teach you about any of my interests listed above.

At the top of my learning list is learning some other languages.
