About Me

I spend most of my time driving the third industrial revolution by studying automation technology and working as a part-time software dev. However, travelling is at least as close to my heart as cool machines, so I'm doing my best to spend as much time on the road as possible. Some years it's easy, the other years it's not.

I've done trips both solo and with friend(s). Both ways have their pros and cons, but currently I'm leaning towards solo. That way I can do anything I want, be alone if I want and in the end of the day meeting new people is easier. Swim or drown. ;)

I seek for new experiences, and the best way to get them by far is to go to new, weird places, discover strange ideas and meet interesting people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing seems to be a great way to experience part of the thrill while at home. I'm always looking towards interesting stories, new ideas and memorable encounters. If you are planning a trip to Helsinki area, ask away!

While on the road, getting to know locals is the hardest and usually the most rewarding aspect. I hope that Couchsurfing could soften the curve a little bit. :)

After 4 years of inactivity, I finally decided to activate! I'm able to offer a couch, and I promise to answer every query. I have some interesting plans for the summer, where Couchsurfing might come handy.

Note: I'm always carrying camping and field cooking equipment while on the road. This means, that the #1 reason for me to couchsurf is not free bed/couch, but new friends and adventures + better understanding of the region. As a solo-traveler I'm also very self-sufficient and adaptable to sudden changes/last-minute cancellations of plans.

Interests

Experiencing things I have yet to try and visiting places I've never been before.

All kinds of outdooring: hiking, wild camping, sailing, scuba diving, rock climbing, geocaching, cycling, snowboarding, etc. However, I never say no to a good party with people I enjoy spending time with.

Waking up and not knowing where to sleep the next night. Surprises!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy quite wide range of music, movies, books and games.
For example: Nightwish, Haloo Helsinki!, Guns N’ Roses, PMMP, Star Trek, The Alchemist, The LOTR trilogy (both books & films), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Master and Margarita, Civilization V, Diplomacy (board game), Interstellar, etc. Just ask if you want to learn more!

I'm producing short films with a group of friends, you can check our latest creation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVvV38CUIOE

Unfortunately there are no subtitles, but you don't really need them to get the idea. ^^

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the summer of 2011 I made an epic road trip through the United States with two friends. We started from New York, and in the following 30 days we drove all the way to Los Angeles, visiting e.g. Washington DC, Appalachian trail, the beaches in Florida, New Orleans, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Yosemite National Park and San Francisco in the process.

During that kind of trip one learns a lot of the travel companions, but even more of oneself. Would definitely ride again!

Teach, Learn, Share

Ultimately everyone is in charge of their own happiness. It's important to recognize the relevant things and pursue them instead of spending time on a unfitting path laid by someone else. Really, don't waste time.

Make things possible and make them happen!

In the end, other people are the greatest source of the joy for me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Let's go Geocaching - it's possible almost everywhere!

Would you like to learn some waltz, tango, Single Time Swing or Bugg? I'm by no means a professional, but I can teach the basics to get started.

I can also tell good stories, some of them are true.

As the mandatory CS cliche, I know a few nice recipes I can cook if you trust me with your kitchen and point the location of the nearest grocery store.

If you have time, I can also "host" you in turn, in your home town. The only thing you need is a sleeping bag and dashing attitude. :D
