About Me

CURRENT MISSION

There is nowhere to go but everywhere, so just keep on rolling under the stars.

ABOUT ME

I'm not a yes-person, I'm a why-not-person, which is quite the same, only second one sounds somehow cooler. One thing about me is that I still haven't lost that curiosity of a small kid. I enjoy learning stuff, finding out how things work, why people are acting one way but not the other. My only plan for the future is to get involved in as many random adventures as possible and I'm doing well this far.

PHILOSOPHY

"Never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it."

and

" There are no strangers, only friends you haven't yet met.

and

"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Oh mama, I wanna go surfing!
Oh mama, I don't mind to show all the beautiful couchsurfers around in my beautiful country an have the craziest adventures together.
(I tried to sing those lyrics on the melody of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeZbbx5SPTs but my friend just told me that it doesn't really rhyme)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The most amazing people have stayed with me in Latvia. I have used it few times for surfing as well as I have quite an experience with crushing on other people's couches. Still I don't know if it counts.

Interests

As most of my evenings are spent working in small art-house cinema, getting lost in music records in order to host a radio show and reading old literature, I have a little too less time to do other awesome stuff. Still I have found myself swimming in foggy lakes at the sunrises, climbing up towers which could be broken by single breeze or making harmonica improvisations in dark bars few times these last months.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm crazy about all of these three.

My taste in music variates from old blues, bluegrass and folk music to some crazy indie, post-rock and good electronic music. Still I find classic rock (like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Extreme, Tom Waits, Frank Zappa etc.) closest to me. Music is the biggest passion of mine, I can talk about it for hours and hours until everyone else gets bored and hits me with random things. I also enjoy going to live shows and festivals and meeting other music geeks.

I changed television for Kurt Vonnegut, Jack London and Jack Kerouac few years ago and that is the best thing I've done so far.

I can't remember who invented movies, but I would soooooooo marry him. Twice. I prefer those ones which make me think. Or the ones which is so freakin beautiful that just I can't help myself. There's a list of my favorites so far:
Stingrey Sam, Stranger Than Paradise, The River (from good old 1937), Badlands, Inglorious Basterds, Never Let Me Go, Seven Pounds, The Way Back, Gimme Shelter, Lords Of Dogtown, Melancholia, Clockwork Orange, Wild Strawberries, Bonnie And Clyde, Almost Famous, Motorcycle Diaries, Cadillac Records, Ganghis Blues, The Black Balloon, An American Crime, Across The Universe, The Shawnshank Redemption, The Fountain, A Face In The Crowd, Secret Window, The Indian Runner, Down By The Law, Talanted Mr. Ripley, Beasts of Southern Wild, Going Places and sooo many others. I always like it when someone else recommends me a good movie because then have no idea what to expect.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to bake Royal cottage cheese cake, make a piano origami (legend says that it looks more like a couch),play Working Class Hero on guitar in less than a five minutes or how to play "Blue Valentine" on saxophone. How to make cigar box out of a piece of wood. There are plenty of little things I've learned to do this far, but the list of things I'm willing to learn is a lot longer.
