Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Femke! I'm a Dutch biology student who's planning to go into molecular cell biology, possibly approached from the field of bioinformatics.
I love (rock) climbing, though I mainly practice in gyms since there aren't a whole lot of mountains or even hills where I live. It's something I've wanted to do all my life but have only recently been able to pick up now that I've started uni. I also play flugelhorn in a marching band, though we like sitting down concerts a whole lot more.
Next to that I'm also quite artsy and love drawing (sometimes digitally) when I have the time. Every now and again I'll pick up a pen to write something as well, though it's never very good.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The usual reasons really. I love traveling and meeting new people, learning about them and their culture. I've never put it to the test before but I can't wait.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a very eclectic music taste, and what I listen to changes on a weekly basis. My favorite genres at the moment are: electronic, jazz and alt rock. My favorite artists are: Radiohead, Somi, David Bowie, Donny McCaslin and 65daysofstatic.
I love movies and series (who doesn't) and am currently watching Designated Survivor and Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netflix. I used to be very much into action and thriller movies but have right now just started exploring the arthouse scene a bit more.
I love science fiction and scifi, and am picking up reading again after some time of inactivity. Obviously Harry Potter and LOTR are both amazing. Right now I'm reading City of Blades by Jackson Bennett, which is really good.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One time I went hiking in the Alps with some of my (extended) family. It was supposed to be a short hike of about three hours. Eventually it turned out to be eight, took us through eternal snow in our shorts and t-shirts, had us almost blown off a mountainside by a terrible storm, and saw us walking through fairytale like ancient woods. We ended up back at our car late in the evening, with more energy in our bodies than we'd left with.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A love for music and great enthusiasm to discuss different music tastes and share new, exciting songs and pieces. Philosophical discussions about topics I know little to nothing about. Useless biology Fun Facts™.
