About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To seek truth 1 continent at a time.
ABOUT ME
Writer, fighter, lover, dreamer, wanderer.
I first started travelling alone 4 years ago after reading Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Quit my job, took all my money (it wasn't much) and went off by myself for the first time - South East Asia for about 5-6 months. Not too far from home, but so very different from here.
Have continued to travel independently since, but always with a big trip in mind. Finally made it to London in June/July 2011 - for a long time that's been my must-go-before-I-die-and-what-if-we-all-die-tomorrow destination. They told me I was a bit too late for 1977, but this was the best I could do (Music section will explain).
I'm not done exploring the world yet but I am now back at work, working on some pretty exciting stuff in the digital and social sphere.
I love solo travel because of all the people you meet, experiences you have, decisions you make, all of which might not have happened the way they did if you had the comfort of company all the way.
I guess once you've been bitten by wanderlust, nothing is ever quite the same. :)
PHILOSOPHY
I live for good conversations, the kind that keep you up till sunrise and you know you'll never be in that same place, with that same connection, with that same person ever again.
I live for the hours spent on my bedroom floor playing my records, exploring the album art and liner notes, the comfort from the crackles in between each track.
I live for the words I write; sometimes, I feel alive because of the words I write.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can show you where to drink.eat.go.live.explore in Singapore. Lonely Planet didn't get it all right.

Teach, Learn, Share
When in doubt, hide your money in your socks.
If you're a solo female traveller caught in a potentially risky situation, never seem hesitant or apprehensive, or afraid. Just pretend these things happen all the time and you're really annoyed and walk away (i.e. escape).
If you write, fall in love with your own work first. If you don't, no one else will.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. It can be humbling, embarrassing, or somewhat unpleasant, but hey, we're all in this world to learn. :)
