Update 2015...

So, I've spent the last 6 months in Canada, wwoofing on goat farms and in vineyards, tackling invasive plant species, exploring the cities, walking dogs and house sitting :) I've tried out vipassana meditation which I love and hope to continue in a temple in my next location, Asia! My first stop for 4 months will be Japan, which fulfills a life long dream of mine-I love the art, the film, the food, the history, and who can't love a nation that celebrates cherry blossom and hinamatsuri! So I'm excited for my visit, to try tea ceremonies, draw some manga, attempt origami, hike the mountains, sit under the shade of Sakura trees, and visit some of the iconic japanese "must-sees" like the hello kitty factory and moomin cafe! I'm a little nervous about my lack of Japanese, but I'm going to do my best :) starting in fukuoka in March, heading to Hokkaido by June! Join me on my travels if you fancy an adventure x

After Japan heading to se Asia, maybe to teach English of for more exploring. Who says travel has to be limited to vacations!! I hope to do this as long as the money lasts, and am grateful to my volunteering positions and people such as the cs community for helping make it happen for me-I will return the favour one day!!

Hi, I'm Shanon, I'm 33 and a marine biologist from the uk. Currently travelling the Pacific Northwest with my two American wwoof buddies and our massive back packs :) we've had a blast; hitch hiking, ride sharing, couch surfing was never part of the plan but we've all learnt so much and met some truly amazing people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started volunteering to fulfill my need to help humanity and the world from a grass roots level. Couch surfing kinda goes hand in hand with that-the community is awesome and so generous, and you really get immersed in a location when you stay in someone's home :) (saying that though, I don't expect you to baby sit me-I take it as it comes)

Interests

Music, guitar (I'm a singer songwriter), drums (...and a rock musician), surfing, travel, healthy food (it's a wwoof thing!), ballet, the planet, marine conservation, kayaking, boats of all kinds, horse riding, hiking, beach bbqs...also Japan, I'm obsessed by the food and culture and can't wait to visit in March!
