Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Ferdane. I am American by birth but always feel at home when visiting other places. I recently completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona and will be taking a few years off to work and travel before going back to school for my Masters, hopefully in Norway or Sweden. I'm very laid back, open minded, and love trying new things. Learning and traveling are my passions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people, especially when they have different perspectives and life experiences I can learn from. There is so much more you can learn about the world around you when you choose to step out of your comfort zone and get to know people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have too many. Please ask! At the moment indie and folk rock as well as electronic dance music (EDM) are my favorites. I am picky about the music I enjoy but when I like something, I /really/ like it. I break into song and dance often, whether nobody is watching or otherwise. More often than not, I don't realize I'm doing it. Please let me know if I do this around you and you'd like me to stop, haha.
I enjoy watching action, adventure, mystery, psychological, drama, comedy, documentary and science fiction TV shows and movies. Favorites include Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother, BBC Sherlock, and anything Quentin Tarantino or Edgar Wright. I really enjoy independent of foreign films as well and am always open to suggestions.
I like to alternate between reading novels and nonfiction. Anthropology, sociology astronomy, psychology, philosophy, and political science are my favorite subjects. I like to keep my mind sharp and stimulated, especially right now since I am taking a break from formal schooling. Some of my favorite thinkers/scholars include Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Robert Reich, and Noam Chomsky. Favorite authors include Haruki Murakami and Orhan Pamuk. National Geographic was my favorite magazine when I was a child and continues to be as an adult.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimming with manta rays in Fiji!
Teach, Learn, Share
Let me know if you want to practice any languages! I also know a lot about many different subjects. Maybe I can share my wisdom with you, haha. I also have a pretty decently sized music library and can recommend artists and albums.
What I Can Share with Hosts
You will come to find out that Tucson doesn't have the greatest transportation system, so if you need a ride anywhere I can definitely help you out. I love driving and would love to show you around the city.
