About Me

I am a journalist.
I was on Couchsurfing for a couple of years a while ago, I had a lot of funny experiences with people on this website, I've hosted and been hosted. Of course I've changed a lot since then. My mission, in 2007, was «Meet Fyodor Dostoevsky». It did not happen. A lot of different and wonderful (and a few much less wonderful) things happened along the way, I fulfilled some childhood dreams and found new ones to look after (and new nightmares as well). In the recent years, as a journalist, I've traveled more than I could hope or imagine (I covered war in Iraq, I swam with dolphins in the Indian Ocean, I drove to Coachella through the desert) but I am here to reconnect with this beautiful community and the funny, weird, young (fuck) person I was inside of it. Everything changed, even my taste in russian writers, but that's the beautiful part of it all. So everything below this line was written ten years ago. Also the references belong to the younger me. He was a nice guy, I hope I'll not disappoint him.

ABOUT ME

I believe in desires, music, wine, literature, good nights of sleep and nights awake talking, american writers, russian writers, the truth you can long for, music again, the power of words and the weakness of words, Rome, football, secret pastas only italians know, food, friends, sharing, writing. And travelling.

PHILOSOPHY

"Since we don't just forget things because they don't matter but also forget things because they matter too much - because each of us remembers and forgets in a patter whose labyrinthine windings are an identification mark no less distinctive than a fingerprint - it's no wonder that the shards of reality one person will cherish as a biography can seem to someone else who, say, happened to have eatne some ten thousand dinners at the very same kitchen table, to be a willful excursion into mythomania"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This summer, a magazine I work for as a contributor (the italian edition of Marie Claire) asked me to travel through Europe like when I was 20, in 2002 (before smartphones, and before Couchsurfing), the same route, the same hostels, hoping to live new experiences (and not to stumble into my younger self's ghost). That trip changed me, opened myself to the world, taught me everything that I needed to know at that time about trust, love, adventure. I don't know how will I live it as a 35 years old man in the smartphone and sharing economy era. Anyway, this was the spark to come back to Couchsurfing again. When I was 20 I could start conversations with doors and pineapples and I was not alone, never, not even for a minute, all through Europe. And now? I don't know, but, you know, if you want to join for a conversation, a glass of wine, a story or anything, I am here (and everywhere)
