About Me
Hi everyone
I am Fereshteh. I look forward to connecting with other travelers who share my sense of adventure. With a community of like-minded explorers,I hope we can swap stories about our favorite destinations or recommended off-the-beaten-path gems we've uncovered on our journeys. As a beginner to this program, I'm thrilled at the prospect of having the chance to experience a different kind of trip and connect with new people. I am excited to embrace this challenge and adventure alongside other Couchsurfing members.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing because I crave genuine connections and perspectives far different from my own. I want to understand how others experience and envision the world around them. Through homestays and meetups, I hope to forge new friendships that transcend surface-level small talk. Learning how people from varying backgrounds spend their days, what worries or inspires them, which rituals carry significance - these conversations promise to broaden my worldview exponentially. I yearn to not only see awe-inspiring sights, but to grasp local values shaping each location. The voyeuristic lens of an outsider racing between tourist attractions cannot compare to breaking bread with those woven into an area's fabric. I believe the myriad worldviews I encounter will enrich my own character and shape me into a more humble, considerate global citizen. With open arms, I welcome the chance to step into others' worlds so they might step into mine.

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to entertainment media, I tend to be fairly discerning in my tastes. Though I enjoy watching films, diving into novels, and listening to new music, I'm quite selective regarding the creators behind the art I consume. Rather than passively taking in whatever is most popular or prevalent, I most often follow the work of proven, respected talents - whether they be authors, musicians, or directors behind the camera. I'm drawn to complex storytelling or lyrical mastery from the likes of Haruki Murakami, Damien Chazelle, or Sara Bareilles: artists distinguished as being among the best in their respective mediums. By focusing my attention on renowned novelists, insightful essayists, talented instrumentalists and songwriters, I find my time feels well-spent rather than wasted on mediocre distractions. Immersing myself in venerated works feels like an investment - not just momentary entertainment but something that sticks with me, moves me, and expands my perspective weeks or years later. I seek out celebrated films hoping to gain that same lasting impact. While I'm open to discovering hidden talents on the rise, established excellence remains my North star.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my most exhilarating adventures has been going canyoning and cave diving
Teach, Learn, Share
As an adventure sports enthusiast, I'm always eager to strengthen my own skills as well as guide others towards new challenges. Recently, I've been devoted to honing my diving and canyoning techniques through repeated practice and study. There's always more to learn about safe practices, gear maintenance, or mastering my fear response when leaping into rushing waterfalls! I'd be glad to share my experience with navigating different diving conditions or planning canyoning excursions that match one's fitness level. At the same time, I teach English to students of all ages. Helping others grasp new vocabulary, grammatical structures, and pronunciation fills me with such joy. I aim to create enthusiastic, supportive learning environments whether underwater or in the classroom!
What I Can Share with Hosts
As your host in the magical city of Shiraz, I would be delighted to curate an itinerary based on your interests to showcase some of my hometown’s highlights. Renowned as the cultural capital of Iran, Shiraz has no shortage of vibrant bazars, ornate mosques, and splendid gardens to explore. I would be happy to guide you through top tourist sites like the tombs of Hafez and Saadi, Vakil Bazaar, Nasir ol Molk Mosque, Eram Garden and Persepolis. I can recommend the best restaurants to savor kebabs or faloodeh ice cream.
