About Me
UPDATE: currently not hosting, but might be up to hang out if not busy.
PLEASE READ at least the first three paragraphs (just so you don't spend your requests if limited):
Important: for bookings over 2 weeks ahead I never give a definitive answer as I don't usually know my plans (unless there's a big trip coming). So if you see the calendar "free" I might have bookings in "maybe" for that period, feel free to drop a message before actually requesting a stay, I go through them in order so don't rush to send a request right away if I don't reply immediately. I'm not sure if requests to stay are still limited, but I'm trying for you all to save requests, just in case.
I don't have any requirements for sending requests or staying, just read my profile, have something on yours (alternatively tell me a bit about yourself) and hit me up if you think we'd get along. I don't need a list of why you think we'd get along, a list of things you'll do for me, or a sonnet praising my existence (but if you already made it send it through 😅). I'll just trust your judgement: if you think it'd be a cool experience and we'll get along, just go on and drop me a message. Also, if there's more than one person, it'd be great if you can name them so I don't have to be like "hey x and husband/bf/friend/grandad", I try to keep it personal and I feel a bit mean when I do that 😅.
Also, to address something I've seen a lot lately and I mean this in the best possible way: it doesn't change anything to me if you are gay, bi, queer, trans or any other of the billions of variations more than I care what your favourite pizza is (unless we are sharing a pizza, then I may declare war if your pizza preference is not part of the true pizza master race); So don't apologize for existing or messaging me please (unless you are a goose, in that case, kindly stay away).
Now actually about me:
I'm new to Scotland! I moved from New Zealand recently. I'm pretty laid back and friendly, I'm happy to hang out but also fine if you do your own thing, just don't ignore me please as this is not a hotel and I'm not a receptionist 😅.
I have a zero-tolerance policy for:
Racist/homophobic/transphobic/misogynistic/abusive/overly entitled people and people with poor pizza taste: Discussing those topics is not banned either, I'm happy to debate controversial topics and happy to disagree, but with me, the only intolerance acceptable is intolerance itself.
My flat is in the Meadowbank area,
The Waverley train station is about 25 minutes away on foot, so not too central but also not too far. Plus you get a view of Arthur's Seat.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Mostly to meet travellers as they tend to be quite fun and easygoing. Also, I love learning about different cultures, places and perspectives so I figured this is a good place to start.
