I have been a proofreader for more than 28 years, working as an editor and proofreader in publishing and academic and university publications. My education in life has ranged from painting and music, at a very early age, to architecture (six semesters), communication, and languages, and my training in professional editing and proofreading. As a young boy, I studied violin, the instrument I love the most, along with the amazing human voice.

I love cooking and sharing meals with friends and family. My other passions are cycling and swimming, which I usually practice several times a week. I also love to share movies and music with friends.

I love to cultivate conversation as a bridge between sensitive human beings who are open to broadening their view of the world and its phenomena. I value and enjoy humor and a critical look, without poses, clichés, or conventionalisms. For this very reason, I do not tune in well with prejudiced, conservative, or fanatic attitudes.

I am vegetarian and I live with my boyfriend and our cat Agata.

Soy corrector de textos dedicado desde hace más de 28 años a la edición y corrección en el ámbito editorial y de publicaciones académicas y universitarias. Mi formación en la vida ha abarcado desde la pintura y la música, a edades muy tempranas, hasta la arquitectura (seis semestres), la comunicación y los idiomas, además de mi formación en edición y corrección profesional. Cuando era muchacho cursé estudios de violín, el instrumento que más adoro junto con la sorprendente voz humana.

Como pasatiempo, que me tomo muy en serio, me encanta cocinar y compartir las comidas con amigos y familia. Mi otra pasión es la bicicleta y la natación, que suelo practicar varias veces a la semana. También me encanta compartir la experiencia del cine y la música con amigos.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I tend to keep very busy with my work, so I usually have little time to spend with my guests. However, when I can spare some free time, I love to share with visitors and accompany them on some tours of my city and the region. Sometimes I even cook for them or, depending on the occasion, we prepare meals together in order to share recipes and culinary experiences.

I would like to make clear my opinion about some couchsurfers who request accommodation with very little planning time, one or two days before arriving to the city. That is not a polite way to ask for acceptance into a potential host's home. I am reluctant to accept such sudden requests! Sometimes I even deliberately don't respond to them, which is why my application acceptance rate has gone down. Sorry! This is why my response rate has gone down.

Suelo mantenerme muy ocupado con mi trabajo, así que generalmente dispongo de poco tiempo para dedicarles a mis huéspedes. Sin embargo, cuando puedo disponer de algún tiempo libre, me encanta compartir con los visitantes y acompañarlos en algunos recorridos por mi ciudad y la región. A veces incluso cocino para ellos o, según la ocasión, preparamos comidas juntos, con el ánimo de compartir recetas y experiencias culinarias.

Me interesa dejar bien clara mi opinión frente a algunos couchsurfers que solicitan alojamiento con muy poco tiempo de planeación, uno o dos días antes de llegar a la ciudad. Esa no es una manera cortés de solicitar aceptación en la casa de un posible anfitrión. ¡Me resisto a aceptar ese tipo de solicitudes repentinas! Incluso a veces deliberadamente no las respondo, razón por la cual mi indicador de aceptación de solicitudes ha bajado. ¡Lo siento! Por esta la razón mi tasa de respuesta se ha reducido.

Mi experiencia en Couchsurfing ha sido maravillosa y muy gratificante hasta ahora. Mi compañero y yo hemos hospedado varios huéspedes que han resultado ser personas maravillosas: el tipo de huésped ideal que más de un anfitrión quisiera albergar con gusto en su propia casa.

Finally, I can hardly compare anything to the joyful experience I always feel when being awake at dawn, looking at the open wide horizon from a high viewpoint at sunset, or gazing at the Earth from a window in a plane.

Finalmente, pocas cosas puedo comparar con la dicha de estar despierto al alba, mirar el horizonte abierto desde un punto alto al atardecer o contemplar la Tierra desde una ventanilla de avión.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I know it sounds unbelievable, but I once entered the United States without a passport in my hand, that is, "undocumented"! I had left it forgotten in Los Angeles while I went with a couple of friends to have lunch in Tijuana to return in the afternoon. Now I laugh at that unconscious audacity that I owe to my forgetfulness, but on that occasion, I trembled and suffered intensely when I realized that I had forgotten it the moment I was already in Mexico! I was able to cross the border thanks to the fact that the guard was not interested in checking the car or asking for a passport or any other formality. This is a truly unique story!

On a vacation, I dared to overcome my fears and my acrophobia to climb the lighthouse of Isla Fuerte, on the Colombian Caribbean coast, and once up there I saw one of the most splendid sunsets I remember in my life: sitting between the bars, looking at the sky, the clouds, the sun, and feeling at the top of that wonderful island as if that was the center of the world until the day went out and night came.

Sé que suena increíble, ¡pero yo entré una vez a Estados Unidos sin pasaporte en la mano, es decir, “indocumentado”! Lo había dejado olvidado en Los Angeles mientras fui con un par de amigos a almorzar a Tijuana para regresar en la tarde. Ahora me río de esa audacia inconsciente que le debo a mi desmemoria, ¡pero en aquella ocasión temblé y sufrí intensamente cuando me di cuenta de ese olvido en el momento en que ya estaba en México! Pude cruzar la frontera gracias a que el guarda no se interesó por revisar el automóvil ni pedirnos pasaporte ni ninguna otra formalidad. ¡Esta es una historia realmente singular!

En unas vacaciones, me atreví a vencer mis miedos y mi acrofobia para subirme al faro de Isla Fuerte, en la costa Caribe colombiana, y una vez allá arriba vi uno de los atardeceres más esplendorosos que yo recuerde en mi vida: sentado entre los barrotes, mirando el cielo, las nubes, el sol, y sintiéndome en el tope de aquella isla maravillosa como si ese fuera el centro del mundo, hasta que el día se apagó y llegó la noche.
