About Me
Hi chaps, I'm Ferruccio and I live in Florence. I'm a couchsurfing member since 2009, surfed a lot of couches all around the world.
I'm into language exchange groups, so if you want to join the best one in Florence just ask me :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here because I love to meet new people.
Interests
I'm into computer science related topics, but I'm not a nerdy man. I prefer talking about the pleasures of living instead of cold and abstract things, except when the two arguments seem to collide: I must admit that this happens more often than I would expect.
I love apples in every sense.
I try to see beauty everywhere even if sometimes I hate everyone.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: any movie that is not the usual american blockbuster. Every sci-fi movie that is not a stupid-fi movie (Wachowski bros rule). I love korean and japanese cinema, but also italian and french one. In the end, any movie with a reasonable plot is appreciated (hard to find nowadays, many of them were pre-1960s). Kubrick, Kar Wai and Kim Ki Duk most of all, but I always watch again and again at old Lubitsch or Murnau masterpieces. Some of my favourite movies in the past years are Into The Wild and La science des rêves (The science of sleep).
Movies I don't like: that ones with the usual american blond hero with blue eyes that fights against the ugly and evil arabic or russian enemy, ending up saving the world with a beautiful semi-naked girl that cannot do anything by herself to resolve the situation because she's only a woman. Add the black-skinned friend that helps out the blond hero to win, but he has to die at the end because he's black. And finally, crashes, booms, bangs and lots of explosions. This is crap, man!
Music: lot of classical, Bach at first. Harpsichord is delightful, then comes violins. Also metal, i love concept albums such as those masterpieces of Pain of Salvation, Ayreon or Dream Theater. Daniel is a god, Road Salt 1&2 is my favourite album ever, but also "BE" by PoS and "01011001" and "The Human Equation" by Ayreon, and then "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" by Dream Theater. And yeah ok, Rammstein, they can take out of me beasts and blood. In the end, any positive approach to send a questioning and clever message to the listener is appreciated. And when it gives you a whole dream sequence in your mind while listening to it, oh god that's what i call music!
Here is a list:
Pain of Salvation, Ludovico Van, Ayreon, Combichrist, Antonio Soler, Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Paco de Lucía, Maurice Ravel, Niccolò Paganini, Mayadome, Shadow Gallery, Rammstein, Pure Reason Revolution, Klimt 1918, Metallica, Shostakovich, Einstürzende Neubauten, Pantera, Enrico Ruggeri, Agonoize, Nightwish, Subsonica, Elio e le Storie Tese, Scriabin, Garbage, NiN, Motel Connection, Symphony X, Aphex Twin, Queen, IQ, Kraftwerk, Canvas Solaris, Prokoviev, Andromeda, Diablo Swing Orchestra.
Books: i vary very much. I have 2500+ books at my mom's home, most of them inherited from my dad. I love russian, german and italian literature. I love classic english poetry. Also add Asimov, Lem and P.Dick for the sci-fi section of my bookshelf, but also Adams for the funny-fi section :p And oh, Kundera, lovely man. Anyway, my favourite bookshelf is about linguistic studies and the evolution of language in history.
I'm focusing on Borges in the last months. Then Palahniuk. Then Boris Vian. Then Foster Wallace.
I love when I can find books for few bucks at street markets.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Escaped from police in Iran.
Teach, Learn, Share
I always want to learn something new, but also need my personal solitary time for myself. I like to share my thoughts but i'm sometimes very selective and I end up being quite weird with people i don't match with. What i like most, it's the feeling of changing my mind so often after i discover new ways of living and points of view even if in the end I must admit I'm a pure selfish man. Trying to destroy this part of me.
