About Me

CURRENT MISSION

What is this? A James Bond film?

ABOUT ME

I let people open to me at their own time. You never know what they have been through, what could offend them, what could be considered intrusive. I think I'm a good listener. I'm more of a giver than a taker. I consider myself a happy person, not because I don't have problems, but because I don't expect much from life. I find more comfort in simplicity, but I feel ok in a posh environment as well, after all, interesting minds could be everywhere. I don't eat meat, but I won't describe the death of the cow while you eat your Big Mac. I tend to talk a lot about new age/universe/existence/philosofy kinds of subjects. Although I can't avoid judging people, I make an effort not to, because if I find someone strange, there's a chance the same judgement will be coming back to me. There's no formula on how to live life and the way we behave depends on parents, events, surroundings and geographical location. I'm not in a position to judge anyway. I think i am rather introspective, the feeling itself is usually enough and I don't need to express it in loud ways. Screaming with happiness happens ocasionally, but it's more of a rare phenomenon. I was brought up as a catholic but I have given up on religion since I was about 15. I am more of a Taoist now, but i don't really follow any religion, I just take what I find more sensible from all of them and create my own. Uh, I don't know, I'm trying to be as honest as I can, but at the end, I am what you see anyway. If you want to know me or ask for couch surfing, it might be easier to just send an e-mail. I won't mind.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess I pretty much talk about all this in the other boxes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, so good.

Interests

I love talking. Give me nice background music, a comfortable seat and maybe some whisky and I can chat with you all night with no effort. Take all that away and I will still talk a lot, but I will probably move all the time because my back hurts.
I'm interested in most kinds of people, I like discussing beliefs, thoughts and opinions, but although I don't have communication problems, I find it quite hard to connect on a deeper level and that doesn't happen very often for me.
Apart from talking, I usually prefer things that stimulate my mind rather than my body. Bungee jumping, rafting, climbing, acrobatics, it can all be fun if i'm in the right mood, but it's not what I would normally go for. I'd rather stop and appreciate a view from the top of a mountain than to basejump from it. I love exercise, but I don't like sports. I have a problem with competition. I think it takes the fun out of any activity and turns it into a mere ego booster. Not to mention exercise depends solely on myself, whilst sports depend on others. I am not a crowd lover. I am definitely the kind of person that sits in the corner at a restaurant, not in the centre.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books but I'm not a good reader. I can't commit to reading very well, I find it hard to focus on it for too long and I often see myself going through a whole page to realise I have to go back because I have no idea what just happened. My special books are 1933 Was a Bad Year, The Dharma Bums, Ham on Rye and the Celestine Prophecy. These were responsible for triggering my small personal revolution when I was younger.

I like most kinds of music. As long as it creates some reaction in my body, whether making me happy or mellow, it's worth listening to. I like jazz, specially bebop and big band, 60s ska, rockabilly, psychobilly, german minimal techno, drum n' bass, hardcore, grindcore, indie/folk stuff. It all depends on my mood or the mood I'm trying to get myself into. The genres that usually bother me are funk, soul, hip hop, some reggae, repetitive commercial pop (umb-rella, ella, ella) and most house (it's not that I don't like it, but it fools me into thinking it will suddenly explode into a sensorial feast and it just remains the same all the time leading me to pure frustration)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It would be pointless to describe as it doesn't get even close to what's registered in my mind.

Teach, Learn, Share

The whole "be true to yourself" motto is definitely valid and you should go for it. But don't forget that although it's ok to be the way you are, perfection doesn't exist and there's always space for improvement. Be humble, because even the illiterate peasant can teach you something, as long as you're willing to listen.
