ABOUT ME

I am an obsessive traveler, very liberal and love nature and animals. I began traveling in February 1999 and have been on the road the majority of the time since, although Tucson is my base. I think the world is crazy for ignoring the environment. I think traveling and meeting people of different cultures and backgrounds makes the world a better place, but I can be biased, as that is how I live!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Besides hosting and surfing, anybody is always welcome to ask me any questions about the places I have been. I will always answer quickly as I am kind of a walking Lonely Planet.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed, hosted and attended a couchsurfing hiking trip to Havasupai Falls and several weekly dinners and get togethers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Most of the top 100 AFI movies. Tom Hanks is my favorite actor. I like Carey Grant, Denzel Washington, Dustin Hoffman, Harrison Ford, Jane Fonda, Jimmie Stewart, Julia Roberts, Robert Redford, Sidney Portier. Too many men, women need better roles!

My favorite tv shows all time are Seinfeld, Cheers and the Wire, but also 30 Rock, Arrested Development, Big Bang Theory, Black Adder(all), Coupling, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Deadwood, F is For Family, Fargo, Fawlty Towers, Larry Sanders Show, Life's Too Short, Lovesick, Office, Queen's Gambit, Real Time with Bill Maher, Russian Doll- only season 1, Party Down first 2 seasons, Soap, Taxi, That 70s Show, True Detective, West Wing and White Lotus.

I generally like top 40 music- with the Rolling Stones and Beatles towards the top. I love axe music from Brasil and soca music from Trinidad, although I am sure that is Carnaval influenced.

I love Dickens, Clavell, Michenor and zipping through Grisham and Crichton books. I love Woodward for his great reporting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So many: looking into the crater of Stromboli, Volcan Villarica & Mount Yasur; solo static line plane jump in Marana & tandem skydive in Swakopmund; hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, the full circuit "O" of Torres del Paine, Otter Trail, Fish River Canyon, Laugavegur, EBC + 3 Passes, Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary, K2 base camp with Gondogoro Pass, the frozen Chadar River; great white shark cage diving in South Africa; walking a puma "Gato" for 2 weeks at Inti Wara Yassi in Bolivia; kayaking in Halong Bay; many safaris including Chobe, Etosha, Kruger, Ngorangoro Crater, Masai Mara and my favorite Serengeti; touching a gray whale in Baja; snorkeling with humpback whales in Silverbank and blue whales in Mirissa and whale sharks in Tofu, live aboard dive boats in Red Sea and Tubbataha Reef, sting rays in Antigua, manatees in Crystal River, lemurs of Madagascar, albino wallaby of Bruny Island, Tasmania & all the beautiful kangaroos; Angel Falls, Angor Wat, Bagan, Petra and Wadi Rum, Iguazu Falls, Perito Moreno Glaciar, Tikal, Victoria Falls; summiting Mt Elbrus(5642 meters); summiting Kilimanjaro(5895 meters); penguins of Punto Tombo and Antarctica; polar bears of Svalbard; brown bears and orcas of Kamchatka, 35 feet waterfall jump at Kawasan Falls, participating in 5 Carnavals in Brasil and 1 each in Trinidad and Virgin Islands; my favorite place in the world- Galapagos Islands; Grand Canyon rim to rim to rim and all the many amazing national park sites in my country; watching the magic of Michael Jordan and the best of all rescued 3 dumped puppies just 2 months old and 30 kilometers from civilization at Sherkala in the far west of Kazakhstan and after much effort they are now 3 members of my family in Tucson! So many amazing things, impossible to choose one!
