Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I travel a lot and I love connecting with people I don't know. I think it's an opportunity for a link with the unknown, where staying in a hotel could be a cold, indifferent experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books and movies. My favorite writers are poets such as William Blake, Keats, Frank O'Hara, Mary Ruefle, Charles Simic, James Tate, Tomas Transtromer, and Jack Gilbert. For fiction I love Murakami, Saramago, and Cormac Mccarthy. I love cinema especially from the 60's, like the French New Wave stuff by Godard and Truffaut -- and the Italians too like Fellini, Antonioni and Pasolini. For new movies I love PT Anderson, Wes Anderson, and the Coen Brothers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Flew over Mount Everest.
2. Rode through the Mojave Desert at night.
3. Stayed in Muonio, in northern Finland, in the winter.
4. Lived in the Himalayas in India.
5. Published three books of poems.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a vegetarian and a pacifist, and I fall on the left politically. But I also think people should have respect for others' opinions, even if it's different from their own.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am an open person, I think, so I enjoy talking about almost anything, and connecting with new people. I am a respectful person -- clean and tactful, I hope! -- and try to leave every space that I visit even better than when I arrived.
