Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I'm pretty new to this but I went travelling for five weeks in the summer and I stayed on a few people's sofa and thought it was great. So the way in which I would like to participate is to offer the same courtesy to any traveller that happens to find themselves up in sunny Aberdeen.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although not done through couch surfing it was the same kind of principle. I was in Stavanger, it was pouring down with rain outside and I was stranded at a dingy little boat stop. Of all the weeks I could have turned up it was the week where everyone to do with oil had turned up for a conference. So there was nowhere for me to stay. After speaking to someone over a cigarette they kindly offered me a bed for the night. I got on the last boat to their house, where his mum picked us up and I slept with a roof over my head. In the morning his mum gave me breakfast and gave me a packed lunch to boot. So it wasn't the most wild story ever but I saw a part of the real Norway not just the touristy areas and experienced a bit of human kindness at the same time.
