I'm a 30-yr-old British girl about to travel across Japan by bicycle on my own. I love music (especially going to see live shows), power clashing, whisky, trying new and weird food and meeting fun people. I've been living in Melbourne for a year now and love the outlook moving so far from home has given me: the world is small, time isn't linear, and life's too short to go in a straight line.

I'm about to embark on a 2,000 km solo cycling tour of Japan, riding from Fukuoka to Tokyo,aiming to complete the journey in 35 days.

I recently watched a documentary (https://youtu.be/0qAZ1yhS2Yk) made by three Canadians who cycled from the southernmost to the northernmost points of Japan in 43 days (over 3,000km!), and I got the inspiration for trying out couchsurfing.com from there. I'm bringing my own tent (/snail shell), but think that meeting and staying with local people at a few points along the way would add another amazing dimension to what is already going to be the trip of a lifetime.

I'd like to be able to continue travelling like this, making friends along the way and helping out other couch surfers in the future.

I'm a huge music fan, and there's not much I can't appreciate. Favourite bans of all time are Faith No More and Talking Heads, and who I'm listening to most at this moment in time are Caribou, Bonobo, Za! Future Islands and C.W. Stoneking.

Movie-wise, all-time favourites are Amelie, Paper Moon, Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Her, Warrior and Rear Window, and anything by David Lynch.

I'm also a big comedy fan (particularly British comedy), and my absolute favourites include League of Gentlemen, Alan Partridge, Nathan Barley, Brasseye, Nighty Night, Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
