About Me

Hi! I'm Fi, I'm a 24 year old currently living in Leeds, U.K. I studied popular music at Leeds college of music and I love travelling and meeting new people. As I'm primarily a songwriter I find it always helps to have as broad of an experience as possible. I'm very open minded and friendly, but above all I love to write and play with other musicians.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't like staying in soulless hotels and hostels which don't let you get to know the people of the city or country you are visiting. Locals usually know the best spots and less touristy sides to the city and as I often travel alone it can be much more rewarding to stay with someone rather than fly completely solo for the whole trip.

Interests

Music is obviously the big one, but I also enjoy cooking, travelling and sewing (I'm attempting to make my own clothes). I love talking to interesting people about their lives and widening my outlook on life.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music is pretty much anything good (vague right?) But this is generally honest and real music with character, some of my favourite artists include Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald, Tune yards and van Morrison, and of course live music! Some of my favourite films are Amelie, Juno and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. Some of my favourite books are "A thousand autumns of Jacob de zoet" by David mitchell " love in the time of cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, "birdsong" by Sebastian faulks and "The Bob Dylan chronicles: volume 1" by Bob Dylan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I played Leeds Queer Film festival I performed solo, just me and a guitar, for the first time in drag in front of an audience of around 100-150 people. It was the most fantastic experience and I was welcomed so warmly by everyone.

Teach, Learn, Share

When I'm not working in the Leeds college of Music library, I run songwriting workshops for young people and adults. A passion of mine is improving mental health through music and using songwriting as a tools to explore ideas and emotions in a safe space.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share conversation, a performance (if you have a guitar lying around) or a really good meal as I love to cook for friends and family in my spare time.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Uganda, United Arab Emirates
