About Me
Witaj (hello in Polish)
The list of all the places I've been to is an extensive one. Yet, I'm in desperate need of a pinch to realize it's not a dream. After four years of leaving home, I still haven't got used to it. Pretty much as soon as I created my couchsurfing profile I moved out of my parents house, out of my city, out of my country, (should I continue?), out of my continent! At 17 a Utah high school took me in as an exchange student. This is a longer story for a late night talk with a glass of beer, but basically, the one year scholarship turned into the full US high school diploma. For a kid from a modest Polish family, that was less likely than winning a lottery ticket...
Now, in Barcelona, studying international relations at Pompeu Fabra. I got addicted to the international experience. In the free time I jump from city to city, country to country, with the ease of changing t-shirts. With safety precautions, yet Covid is not stoping me. Will I ever stop myself? I don't think so...
Nice to met you,
Filip
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am upset when meet people who wish they traveled but never do so because of the high costs related. The high entrance barrier restricts many people from receiving the life-changing opportunities. With all that, I believe there's a hopeful alternative. In Europe, there's a deep-rooted history of hospitality. Back in the days, helping a traveler on the road used to be regarded as a noble deed. Before the times we all blindly turned to the dollar...
I believe couchsurfing helps to bring back that centuries old tradition.
Hope to join the movement!
