About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to become the master of Belgian couchsurfers and show travellers from all around the world the hotspots in Belgium... and most of all: have them taste our delicious beers!!
ABOUT ME
Hi couchsurfing fans, my name is Filip, 38 years old, living in Mol near Antwerp.
I've decided to join couchsurfing because I realized it is the best way to stay in touch with the backpacker's vibe, even while you're not travelling yourself. At the same time, it's the perfect opportunity to meet people from all over the world. It 's fascinating to hear people's stories: why they are travelling, what their other destinations were/will be, learn about differect cultures and debate about whatever subject comes to mind.
I've caught the travelling bug quite late in life, at 29 when I was travelling through South America, but I hope that I can still make up for lost time. But still, I consider myself to be a very lucky person to be able to visit the countries I have visited until now.
PHILOSOPHY
~If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there~
~It will all be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end~
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am not really sure what I am supposed to write here, but I guess the question is what kind of host I will be for people visiting.
Well it's very simple: I will drive you around to any city you 'd like to go (if my work allows it). If not, I will make sure you know how to get around by public transportation.
I'll cook food for you (or we can cook together), make sure you taste all kind of beers and try to submerge you in Belgian culture... we're quite a complex little country.
Anywayz, I will make sure you have a great time here!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None yet - but I gotta start somewhere right?
I did have two friends from the US over and I showed them Brussels and Bruges, let them crash in my master bedroom and cooked some food for them. And they had a great time.. so maybe that's my first reference :)

Music, Movies, and Books
That's a tough question... I am a Stephen King fan, but I basically will read anything I can get my hands on (and if I find time to actually read).
When it comes to movies, I do have a few favorites such as Memento, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, The Usual Suspects and basically any movie with Nicolas Cage or Denzel Washington :p
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed Cotopaxi in Ecuador near Quito and saw an amazing sunrise at the summit.
3-day hinking trip in the Jalq'a valley in Bolivia, near Sucre. Spent three days with locals, sleeping in very poor accomodation and learning about the farmers' way of life. Amazing experience.
Trekking to the Ciudad Perdida - Colombia.
Climbing mount Huashan in China.
Island hopping in French Polynesia... a tropical paradise.
