Overview
About Me
I was born in the south of Russia, then moved to Moscow where I studied Russian literature.
I lived for half a year in Norway, above the Polar Circle.
I love music and I think playing and producing music is my vocation.
I make my living as a journalist (which makes me know a lot of stuff, incl. what I don't want to know)
I like past in different forms (history, old buidlings, photos, nostalgia, regrets) more than present
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
because in hotels you won't discover much
because on guided tours you will be shown only the most typical and boring landmarks
because a guide book has never been more informative than a real person

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite writers and poets are Vladimir Nabokov, Joseph Brodsky and Fyodor Dostoevsky.
I also love quite a range of authors from different eras and traditions -
from Rabelais. Shakespeare, Dante
to Moliere, Racine, Calderon
to Balzac, Stendhal, Flaubert, Hugo, Goethe, Schiller, Lake poets, William Blake
to Zola, Hawthorne, Wilde, Chekhov, Ibsen
to Lorca, Kafka, Joyce
to Vonnegut, Calvino, Fowles
to Eco, Houellebecq, Lou
As for music, I like indie, post-punk and everything that's smarter than one chord and 'baby-baby" in lyrics
I'm also a big fan of old school rock - Queen, The Doors, The Rollings Stones, Led Zeppelin etc. Poor people in karaoke bars - when I go there, they stop singing Rihanna's songs and have to listen to me shouting "Whole Lotta Love" lyrics
I'm not a fan of movies, though there are some basics that I've seen and am always eager to discuss
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I arrived to Oslo in the evening and had a plane to Tromso next morning. So I partied all night long and liked it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I worked as a language teacher so I know a lot boring stuff about languages
I also like discussing history (it is what politics turns into when it stops being actual)
Moreover, now I work as a journalist so, if you're interested in this dirty business, I'm gonna tell you a looooot about politics in Russia
What I Can Share with Hosts
discussing books (and sometimes politics though I don't like it much), watching youtube, telling stories and peculiar things about Russians and their language
Countries I’ve Visited
Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, Ukraine
Countries I’ve Lived In
Norway, Russian Federation
