About Me
CURRENT MISSION
coming to terms with sexism
ABOUT ME
I'm a freelance film critic and journlist, focusing on women directors and how gender is displayed in cinema. I just recently started to define myself as a feminist and I'm still trying to figure out what that actually means.
I'm religous (member of a liberal Baptist church) and very open minded about alternative live styles and sexualities. I don't very much care if people are gay/lesbian or whatever and I think God loves all people no matter where there are from, what they look like and who they have sex with (not talking about pedophilia of course!). I love to meet people living lives different from mine and get inspired by their ideas.
I'm very ambitious and working a lot which is why I can't host right now but I'm hoping to be able to host again soon. I like to meet friends, I love to dance and I love to act (I'm also a drama educater, but not working in this field right now). I don't go out much, because I oftentimes work during the weekends, but if I go out I like to party the whole night through.
I have a cat who I totally adore. He is really crazy and has a lot of criminal energy (opening the fridge helping himself to treats, opening doors, drawers..). But I love him unconditionally. I think he is something like a substitute child. I love children and dream of having a family, but it just didn't work out that way yet.
I used this profile with my ex-boyfriend before, that's why he is still mentioned in some posts. We're still friends but not living together of course.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a liberal Christian and take charity seriously. I try to care for the people around me as much as I can. Everyone has a story and I try not to judge people whatevery they do or say. As humans we just can't be perfect and we always will commit errors, but we can keep on trying to be the best person we can be. I'm very liberal in regard to other live styles. As long as nobody gets hurt and people enjoy what they are doing I'm fine with that. As I said, I'm not the one to judge people and I don't want to be judged by them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Right now I can't host anybody because I work a lot and being freelance my flat is also my office.
I did some couchsurfing with my ex but we didn't get the chance to host anybody. We broke up right after we started to get involved in couchsurfing and after the break up I didn't use this account for over a year. I'm just getting started again and working on a way to host, since I love this unique possibility to meet people from all over the world.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
With my ex we surfed three different couches and had mixed experiences. Sometimes we felt very welcome and sometimes we didn't at all. The overall experience was great though and I love the whole concept.
I think it is very important to be as honest as possible in your profile so that you can really get an idea of the person behind it. That way you can judge if the surfer and the host are a good fit. Therefore I won't accept any surfers who did not fill out the profile in detail.
Last year one of my former hosts came to Germany and we met in Berlin. It was awesome to meet someone from so far away and deepening the relationship. I really hope to meet her again soon.
Interests
I love movies, obviously. And well made TV shows. I love to dance even though I rarely do because of health issues. As I already said I believe in God and I enjoy talking to people with different believes about the topic of religion in our modern times. I'm interested in feminism and female empowerment. I recently wrote a piece on feminist porn and really got involved in the topic of female sexuality, how it is displayed in our culture and oftentimes repressed. I like music and I own a guitar but I don't play very much (I like when others play, so guitar players are welcome!). I like to eat, especially everything sweet.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite movies (changing all the time because I watch so many every week): Shame, Broken Circle Breakdown, Les Vacances de M. Hulot, The Fearless Vampire Killers and so many more.
I listen to different kinds of movies and people say I have no taste in music. I like music I can sing along or dance to. Sometimes I listen to christian pop rock, because it makes me happy and helps me calm down in times of stress (I also listen to christian pop rock when I'm cleaning... I really don't know why).
I used to read more but lacking the time now. I like books by Jostein Gaarder and Gabriel Garcia Márquez.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I am very proud to have climbed the Teide, Spain's highest mountain, even though I am not the athletic type.
I'm amazed every time a baby is born. I think that's the biggest wonder we can experience in life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can talk about movies... a lot. And I like to talk about my religion, but only when asked. I like to show how Christianity is not necessarily the opposite of being an open minded citizen of the 21st century.
I hope to be able to open up people's mind for everyday's sexism, not only against women but men, too.
And I'm a drama educator, so I can teach you a lot of fun games to play with friends.
