About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn about other cultures and in the process understand my own
ABOUT ME
I am curious about people, politics, human relations and different cultures. Have traveled a bit, been to exotic countries and learned some lessons. I live in a diverse multicultural part of London. I have a lot of spare time at the moment and enjoy the cafe society in my corner of London. I socialise quite a bit, so counchsurfers are likely to meet a few of my friends.
PHILOSOPHY
To keep my mind open and always to learn new things.
I am quite fond of a quote by Dr Johnson:
'When one is tired of London, one it tired of life'
I appreciate humour, wit, style and intelligent conversation. I love people who see the world differently, independent free thinkers.
I believe in fair exchange, quid pro quo. When I was more tolerant of the elements I hitch-hiked a great deal. CS is the same sort of idea.
I like to think I have a fairly open minded outlook on life but, with regards to smoking in my home, I am with James I on this one:
“lothsome to the eye, hatefull to the Nose, harmefull to the braine, dangerous to the Lungs, and in the blacke stinking fume thereof, neerest resembling the horrible Stigian smoke of the pit that is bottomelesse”.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A flash flood in Mauritius, the dark torrent careering down a mountain into a turquoise sea. It was a close shave.
Photographing Mt Everest and listening to the rumble of landslides and avalanches in the distance.
Peering over the side of volcanic crater filled with Boiling water after a trek through a desolate volcanic valley full of hotsprings and sulphur. It was Hellish.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know London very well and frequently give advice to visitors, sometimes I give little tours. I am also well traveled and have a number of stories. Once upon a time I was a cog in big corporate machine, so I know that world quite well. I have some wisdom that comes with maturity. But I quite agree with Oscar Wilde when he said that 'experience the word that people use for their mistakes'. Most of my professional life has been dealing with technology, so I can speak fluent geek. But I also love the Arts, many of my friends are actors, dancers, muscians and artists. While I...I am the audience.
