About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just hitching a ride to other side

ABOUT ME

Chinese American woman, who really just wants to see the world.

I've got a snarky sense of humor and a quick smile. I play terrible guitar, but I'm a decent singer. I can fall asleep easily anywhere. I make a mean cappuccino. I'm a big fan of hockey, but I'm horrible at sports. Except bowling.

I'm a photographer and a designer, but I've worked as a museum collections manager for the last two years so I know a lot about life sciences. It means I used to be the one that would catalog all the lovely preserved animals and make sure they were put away nicely. It was fun.

PHILOSOPHY

Live to eat because there's a lot of good food out there.

Be patient. Be kind. Be true.

If you're confident, go for it. If you're scared, definitely go for it.

Don't kiss and tell.

Respect is the best.

I'm a pretty simple gal, I believe in the world and I believe in people. Life is short, but it's also incredibly dense with all this time. I really want to use up as much as my time as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing right now! I've hosted a few times, but I will host for sure once I'm done traveling. :)

I'm not much of a cook, but I live to eat and dine with people. I don't take up much room and I'm super clean. I'm a great animal sitter. I'm a hugger not a fighter, but I do tend to curse like a sailor if I'm not watching myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just couchsurfed my way through Egypt and it was THE BEST! People are amazing, the country is amazing, and I want to keep couchsurfing the next five months that I'm traveling!

I've only hosted a few times when my roommate generously offered up our living room to travelers. The guests we had were super nice and it was great chatting with them and hanging out in our living room. I liked helping them out with the transport issue in LA and it was great to hear about their travels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first and only time skydiving was when I was in New Zealand with my folks. They skydived with me, which was amazing. We were in Taupo, NZ and my skydiving buddy was named Marley. He was almost a full head taller than me and seemed thin for his height. On the way up to 15,000 ft, in this tiny yellow plane, there was eight was us crammed in there. He asked me if I was nervous. And I honestly answered, "no."

I screamed so loud when he pushed us out of the plane. For a solid half minute, I screamed and laughed harder than I ever have. The force when all the air is rushing at you is startling strong. He spun us in a circles and when released the chute, we glided for seven minutes looking over Lake Taupo. It was a slightly overcast day with stray rays of sun hitting the water with the mountains in shadow. You can see the cars moving and airport right under us.

It was the best thing I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I know: photography, drawing, insects, marine invertebrates, evolution, dinosaurs, comics, and Chinese (kind of, I'm super rusty).

I'm always willing to teach people about anything I know and I love talking about places people have traveled to. I love comparing stories about adventures and practicing any language skills. I know how to bargain (well, sorta) and I've got a good sense of direction.
