I'm Finn (como "fin de semana") and I come from beautiful New Zealand. I love to surf, skate, ski, do all sorts of "extreme" sports, travel, meet new people, and learn new things. I'm a musician (I play the guitar, bass, sing, and play a little bit of drums as well), although not profesionally (one day, maybe). I've done all sorts of crazy jobs, from being a lifeguard on the beaches of Christchurch, to lifting buildings up to 2 metres in the air, to even being an actor on TV for a short time! I'm friendly, adaptable, respectful, independent, and enthusiastic about forming new connections with people from all walks of life and learning about different places, people, languages, and cultures.

Me llamo Finn (como "fin de semana") y vengo del hermoso país de Nueva Zelanda. Me encanta surfar, andar por skate, esquiar, hacer todos tipos de deportes "extremos", viajar, conocer a nueva gente, y aprender nuevas cosas. Soy músico (toco la guitarra, el bajo, canto, y toco un poco de baterías también), aunque no profesionalmente (algún día, quizás). He hecho todos tipos de trabajo loco, desde ser salvavidas en las playas de NZ, hasta levantar edificios hasta 2 metros en el aire, y hasta era actór durante un ratito! Soy amable, adaptable, respetuoso, independiente, y entusiástico sobre formar conexiones nuevas con gente de todos los caminos de la vida, y aprendiendo sobre distintos lugares, gente, lenguas, y culturas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm travelling through South America and learning/practicing my Spanish, so Couchsurfing seems like it would be a great way to meet local people and experience the various different lifestyles and cultures of the people who live on this amazing continent!

Estoy viajando por Suramérica, y aprendiendo/practicando español, así que Couchsurfing me parece que sería una tremenda forma de conocer a la gente local, y experimentar los varios estilos de vida y culturas de la gente que vive en este hermoso continente!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music, movies, and books! The Nudge, Fat Freddy's Drop, Home Brew, Kora, Crooked Lidz, Aldous Harding. These are some of my favourite kiwi artists that I can introduce you to when I come to stay. All are very different from one another, but my taste in music is very broad.
Movies: I also enjoy all different types, comedies, dramas, thrillers, horrors, even horrible movies can sometimes be entertaining!
Books: At the moment I am reading "The Open Veins of Latin America" (in Spanish), which is a challenging and upsetting read (so much tragic history and exploitation of the people and the land, and the language used in the book is quite complex and difficult to understand some times as well). I enjoy reading academic works like this sometimes, although I also really like to read fiction, "Catch 22" is a favourite, and "The Alchemist's Apprentice" was another that I really enjoyed. I'm having a bit of a mind blank on the names of the books I've read, but any recommendations will be greatly appreciated (especially books in Spanish by Latin American authors).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During the Christchurch earthquake in 2011, I helped rescue some people from the rubble, and ended up with my photo on the front page of the newspaper. This also lead to a role in a TV show about the quakes couple of years later.

Durante el terremoto en Christchurch en 2011, ayudé a rescatar alguna gente de los escombros, y acabé con un papel en un programa de televisión sobre los terremotos que se filmó un par de años después del evento.
