ABOUT ME

I am originally from Hamburg, Germany. I lived in Berlin for about seven years to study energy engineering, I loved the city and student´s live so I took my time there.. Then I moved to Almeria, Spain, where I lived for a bit more than four years and worked in a Spanish company in solar energy. In 2012 I moved to Abu Dhabi to work in a solar thermal power plant in the middle of the desert.

I travelled a lot when I was at university, but since I started working I could never take more than 2 weeks off. Thats why since May 2016 I am in a sabbatical for 6 months, yayyy!! Part of the time I want to travel, another part be at home in Hamburg to spend time with my family and old friends after having worked abroad for 8 years. Currently I am driving my car back home from Abu Dhabi to Hamburg. The route will take me through Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I signed up several years ago but have finally never couchsurfed myself so far. But many of my friends have both as surfers and hosts and both ways it always sounded great! I was offering to host in my little desert town in Abu Dhabi (Madinat Zayed), but the few times someone was crazy enough to plan to stay there I wasnt there myself, :-(

Interests

Mainly outdoor stuff like camping, hiking, sailing. And obviously travelling, meeting people, learning all kinds of new things - languages, flying, cooking...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camping in Liwa desert. Hiking the Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan, China. Getting stuck with my car in a salt lake in Iran and being pulled out by 10 amazingly friendly Iranis :-) Ok, those are 3 things. Cant tell which one was most amazing...
