About Me

Hey I'm Fio :-)
I'm a 29 year old Belgium girl. While growing up in Gent, a student city and home to a lot of small Jazz bars and also the place I called home for a long time, I found out I'm not the person to stay in one place. There is a restlessness and curiosity I can't put away. I've been living on my own since I was 16 and am used to fighting for what I want.
Eventually I moved to Switzerland 4 years ago, to follow one of my passions, working as a Midwife..
It's only recently that I started traveling every spare moment I have and it has been so beautiful and freeing.
Meeting new people from all over the world, experiencing different cultures, different views, different dreams... Any of those encounters, short or long, pleasant or even unpleasant, they helped me find way's through the forrest, aka my very confused brain ;-) and they brought me so much joy and fuzzy feelings...

My current Mission:
Do what I love and try to love what I do! Find myself piece by piece.
And of course experience everything that is beautiful in this world and share it with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I Love traveling and meeting new people, and just because life is always more interesting when you can share moments, give to others and learn from other people....

Interests

Traveling just with a backpack, finding where your boundaries lay. Less is more ;-)

Movement: Extreme sports, Scuba Diving, Acroyoga, Elektroswing, Canyoning, Kayaking, Climbing, Paragliding, Swimming, Horseriding,...

Good food: Just everything that makes my belly happy ;-)

Art and history: Love visiting good museums, exhibitions, archeological sites or breathing in the atmosphere of an old Town... everything with a story, a history.

Dance performances: Just because they make me warm and fuzzy inside and oooooo so happy!

I get all happy when I have time for cooking ;-) preferably with fresh ingredients I grew on my Balcony.

Love to feel the boogie woogie when there is music, going wild on music is maybe a better way to say it ;-)

People and life as it comes. And so so so so many more things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Did a survival camp In Scotland when I was 17.
Hiked through the Pyrenees for 14 days with a tent.
Went on my own to Adrenalin-check in Slovenia and did crazy awesome sports.
Changed my life direction by moving to Switzerland.
Saw the aurora Borealis in Iceland while sitting in a natural hot-pot.
Went horseback riding for 5 days in the Jordanian desert with Bedouin-guys, sleeping under the stars and swimming in an oasis in the middle of the desert.
17 days of horsebackriding in Mongolia and learning to shoot bow and arrow from horseback.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well my friends tell me I can make an amazing cheesecake so I could teach you that. We could do Acroyoga together, and I can teach you how to Laugh like a villain (apparently I'm very good at that)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good laugh, a nice talk, some good food, a walk, a party, enthusiasm....
My creative, crazy mind and the thoughts that go with it.
I could teach, share, inform.. German (with the funny Swiss accent), useless knowledge about the history of Belgium, and of course everything about delivering baby's.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, France, Germany, Iceland, Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, Russian Federation, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Belgium, Switzerland
