About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live my life to the fullest, meet kindred souls, be inspired, contribute positively and create grand memories in wonderful places.
ABOUT ME
Well basically I am just a girl who is trying to make the most out of life.
My passions are travelling and learning. It stems from my family, growing up my parents would take me on trips in Australia and Asia. I felt like I was being transported to another world, I was captured by different cultures and the possibilities. Since then I have spent my life trying to continue the adventures, to see different places and soak up new experiences.
PHILOSOPHY
I think Socrates said it best when he said- 'The unexamined life is not worth living.'
I live and examine, sometimes I examine too much and live too little, but I am working on that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My friend Manu introduced me to Couchsurfing. He was travelling through Sumatra and he met so many amazing people. People that made our travels so much more rewarding. And then I thought yes, I must try this couchsurfing thing, and here I am.
Interests
[insert light and slightly amusing comment here]
Music, Movies, and Books
Catch 22 by Joseph Conrad, everything by Alain de Botton, This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz, Love is a Dog from Hell by Charles Bukowski, The Quiet American by Graham Greene, The Happy Isles of Oceania by Paul Theroux.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once had to be a judge on "Kediri's Got Talent" (Kediri - a small city in East Java, Indonesia) where groups and individuals performed in front of a packed out shopping mall audience. The acts ranged from puppeteers to poets, and from woeful to amazing. The town was a little conservative with many women choosing to wear a head scarf and cover from ankles to wrists. So I was not sure how to react when a group of teenage girls got on stage in mini skirts and tank tops looking every bit like an American teen, to sing and dance 'Like a G6'. I was sitting there wide eyed thinking how inappropriate it was when the crowd went absolutely crazy for them and they ended up winning the competition. Indonesia, it is full of surprizes.
Teach, Learn, Share
Two little life lessons I learned-
1. Never get in the taxi, pedicab, bus, rickshaw, car, van, motorbike, without agreeing on the price first.
2. Always say yes to night swimming.
