About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover Philippines!

ABOUT ME

I am 19 years old and finished high school last summer. In my free time I like to meet friends and play the piano. I truly enjoy discovering new places and meeting new people and I would describe myself as open-minded and interested in many different issues and things.

At the moment, I am working as a volunteer for a philippine NGO in Malate, Manila. I really enjoy this work and I am still fascinated by this surprising and beautiful country, in which I have already spent 3 months !
I will stay in Manila until August 2012 and hope to get the chance to explore many more nice and interesting places around the Philippines:)

PHILOSOPHY

Always look on the bright side of things, or rub the dark side until it shines!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am interested in getting to know people of different ages, gender and cultural backgrounds. This is why I do not only intend to visit foreign places but also to share my daily life and knowledge about my country and culture with other people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experiences with couchsurfing, which I made last spring during an interrail trip across scandinavia, were awesome !
I am very happy to have met so many nice people, all of my couchsurfing hosts were really supportive and friendly, many times it was no problem to feel at home immediately :)

Interests

I am very interested in learning new languages and discovering new places and cultures. I spent a quite big amount of my free time with supporting the local fair trade shop of my hometown. I have been an active member of the shop committee for about four years and I truly enjoy working at the shop, selling products and providing advice for the clients. The issue of fair trade is a very interesting one, which I would like to share with other couch surfers! I also like playing the piano, mainly classical music and preferably Chopin! The rest of my free time is spent with my friends, who are always up for something new and exciting ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Jane Austen movies and books! Moreover, there are just too many good books I've read. I am a big fan of Jonathan Safran Foer, you should read his novel "extremely loud and incredibly close"- it's a wonderfully touching reading experience :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The past 6 months in Manila were the most fantastic months in my life ! Too many great experiences to list them all! :P

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach other couch surfers to cook, bake and knit. This might sound a bit old fashioned or strange but this is what I can offer you. I might also be able to give some piano lessons.

What I would like to learn from others is diving and other sports which I have never tested or done before ;)
I would also love to enrich my collection of recipes, especially by learning to cook some country-specific meals from all over the world!

Countries I’ve Visited

Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, Ireland, Philippines
