I like to spend a lot of time alone, as I can get a very good sense of my surroundings that way. I've been exploring a lot of different ways to spend alone time (i.e. besides reading books at a coffee shop, but also going to the movies, or dining alone.) I find it to be empowering and therapeutic.

Traveling alone in Peru made me more alert and observant as a foreigner. Getting scammed in Malaysia was not so amazing, but left me awestruck...and shocked...lesson learned. Visiting and dining with a local family in Cuba shed light into what life was like for many Cubans.
