Overview
About Me
I'm enthusiastic about knowledge and rousing experiences, generally joyful, and eager to delve into lenghty intellectual and personal discussions. Currently a doctoral candidate, I'm studying moral and political philosophy focusing on effective altruism. I have founded a philosophy collective and have become the executive director of the collective's magazine. I'm vegan.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Knowing cheerful and lively people and embarking on new adventures as much as I can. The world offers us a lot—a lot that we should not content ourselves with less of it.
Interests
Most of my time has been spent by learning and teaching philosophy, especially the contemporary schools that tackle with ethics, politics and ontology, including postmodernism, existentialism, phenomenology, Heidegger, Foucault, Agamben.
I had participated in social movements, such as Maple Spring (Montréal) and Gezi Park protests (Istanbul), and I'm still trying my best to be an organic person in activism.
Literature is a passion. From the idllyic scenes of moorlands to the pataphysical usage of language, I'm debted to stories and poetry, as they have nourished my imagination and what one may call the self.
I'm also a regular visitor to the museums, art galleries and historical urban spaces that are conducive to an artistic revival.
Music, Movies, and Books
Due to my area of expertise, I'm almost -and feel myself obliged to be- a bookworm. Depending on my mood I read extensively. Albert Camus, Leo Tolstoy, Patrick Süskind, Tomas Tranströmer are among the international writers I'm particularly keen on.
As far as I glimpse some trace of meaning, I don't make any distinction between movies. (I'm fan of those old-fashioned, nostalgic, soul-gifted movie theaters as much as the movies themselves!) I have always been amazed by the movies of Alfred Hitchcock, Andrei Tarkovsky and David Lynch.
My taste of music is ever-developing, I'm being a bit experimental on this issue.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share any insight that I have achieved over the limited scope of my life. What I value the most is the potential of sincerity. I believe in the creativity of being open-minded.
