Music, Movies, and Books
Music: The Roots, The Pixies, Nick Drake, Anthony Hamilton, The Smiths, Ray LaMontagne, MGMT. I also like country and any 90s music.
Books: Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote, Ordinary People by Judith Guest, and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Oh and The Alchemist.
Movies: I am addicted to movies. I love any foreign, Tarantino, Coen brothers or Hitchcock movie. City of God, Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys, Auberge Espagnole, Secretary, Talk to Her, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Unfaithful, Showgirls, Let the Right One In, and Slumdog Millionaire are some of my favs. I feel like movies lately have really disappointed me. I had very high hopes for Precious and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by they did not live up to them. I did like Mammoth and Breaking Upwards.
TV: The Wire, Six Feet Under, Veronica Mars, True Blood, and any Joss Whedon shows (except for Firefly which I have never seen)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I’ve seen recently is a Bedouin village in the Negev Desert. They have a couchsurfing lifestyle in a way; in the desert if you get a guest you have to welcome them into your home and show them hospitality. They way they live is so beautiful and I felt more alive while I was there (riding camels, sleeping in giant tents, seeing how close their community was) than I have in a very long time. I would really love to live like that for a couple of months, maybe years so I’m going to try to learn a little Arabic.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can knit! I also make an awesome madras.
