ABOUT ME

I'm new to all this so this is just part of me being open to the world. I have recently retired to a little village in central France and am enjoying making French, English and Dutch friends. I'm having a ball. The countryside here is so beautiful and spacious and somehow I find it quite liberating. My spiritual and creative life is very important to me. I am perpetually curious and I guess you could say I am rapidly developing into a wonderful English eccentric!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been introduced to CS by a friend in England. I have a grenier (store room) which covers the whole of the first floor of my house. It's basic but makes ideal 'crash' space. I enjoy showing people round the area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've just had some experience of this when I went back to England for my son's wedding.

Interests

The Albigensian Crusades. These concern the first mass genocide in modern history when the Occitan people were burned at the stake for their heretical beliefs. What interests me is that they were healers and believed in personal responsibility for their spiritual life. (I'm not interested in dates and battles.) I am a full healer member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers.
I belong to a local medieval group, my main interest being the creative side (music, singing, telling stories, theatre)rather than historical accuracy.
I paint, draw, do stained glass work and silk batik.
I garden and DIY.
I have been a practising Buddhist for about ten years, meditating regularly, but recently decided to withdraw my request for ordination.
I love animals and wildlife.

Music, Movies, and Books

Each time I go back to England I buy up old videos from the charity shops for my duvet days when I don't feel like speaking French. I miss Classic FM over here but I've recently been introduced to Yannick Noah (definitely not classical) and become a fan. I enjoy spiritual books but am definitely off self help books although I've read loads. I don't find it helpful now to read how if I just did x,y or z I would be so much bigger,better or brighter. I am as I am.
