Overview
About Me
I'm from a rural lump of the UK called Norfolk, but moved from London to Vancouver in January 2019 for a new culture, a change of scene and the mountains. I spend a lot of time out in the paradise that is BC, but relish exploring the music, breweries, beaches and nooks of the city too. Enjoying the adventure so far!
I work remotely, dividing my time as a social researcher, freelance writer a guidebook author. I'm also helping to bring a social-impact adventure film festival from the UK to Vancouver. This all means I have no set routine, and will back in Europe intermittently and unable to host. But always happy to help however I can.
I'm very relaxed and get along easily with people, preferring a more-the-merrier approach to whatever's going on. I'm always curious to learn about new people and things. I also feel people make mistakes because of how they've been conditioned to act, which I hope makes me friendly and understanding.

Music, Movies, and Books
I probably read 75% non-fiction - mostly travel, memoirs, left-leaning political books and 'big idea' books. Still, nothing beats racing through a novel.
Musically my comfort zone is rock n roll and associated genres, but also whatever Spotify explorations throw up.
I don't watch much TV and have a true dearth of film and pop culture knowledge, but I like watching documentaries and I'm slowly getting more into film. Big fan of Richard Linklater's films.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Had my Couchsurf hosts lend me their VW camper for two months and then forget to leave them a reference.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm curious and like to listen, so hope to encourage the same in people. Specifically I could also teach people how to hitchhike and how to play croquet - an obscure but peaceful British sport (pastime).
As for learning, whether it's making bread or surfing, I'm down.
What are you learning right now? Bonus points for couch requests with an answer to this question.
