About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To do maths!
ABOUT ME
I have recently acquired a PhD in maths, and am now trying to do research in it. Maths is hard though.
Apart from maths I like to occupy myself with the internet, playing games, programming and the like.
I also like languages but so far I only ever learnt German to any degree worth mentioning. I would like to learn a Scandinavian language as well as visiting one of those countries in the not-too-distant future.
PHILOSOPHY
I always think "having a philosophy" is a misuse of the word philosophy - perhaps "code of living" is more appropriate?
In any case I live to learn new things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't done much in the way of hosting/guesting, but I always like to go to couchsurfing meetings when I am travelling, because you are guaranteed to meet open, friendly people who can tell you something new. I love being in international groups and learning about other people's countries, and also perhaps teaching some lesser-known things about Britain.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I guess getting a PhD might be amazing. I am kind of amazed that it happened, anyway...
Teach, Learn, Share
Undergraduate level mathematics (pure) Programming (in python) if that somehow came up... If you ask me about Gödel's incompleteness theorem you may get a longer answer than you bargained for! I could also teach German basics but I'm not a native speaker.
If you can teach me Swedish, Icelandic or Norwegian, or... other Germanic languages, that would be fun! I have lately been musing about learning the cello, but haven't taken the plunge to get lessons. If you happened to have a cello (or other stringed instrument, for that matter) that you were willing to have someone sound extremely awful on, I would absolutely love the chance!
I like both cooking and eating.
