About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Not sure what my current mission is, but I'll know it when I see it. Mostly wanting to experience new things and meet people who can tell me about their experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be a good person and make every day count. Life's too short!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just new to the CS Project so finding my way, I'm sure I'll find a niche someplace in which I can assist.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Haven't hosted or surfed yet but have met a few CS people, which is what got me interested.

Interests

I'm a keen film goer. I co-founded (1999) and helped run a Queer film group (Bent Lenses) in Canberra, screening films during the year and a film festival as part of SpringOUT, Canberra's yearly Queer Pride festival in November. I also participated in 2XX, a local Canberra community radio station, and present Q Radio on Saturday nights with a bunch of other Queer types :o) Since then I've retired and moved to the Gold Coast...beautiful one day, perfect the next...! I'm now involved in a local Gay men's social group, geneology, volunteer with the Queensland AIDS Council, learning French at U3A and try to keep myself fit, with a little travel thrown in for good measure.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies covered above. I mostly read non-fiction, but have been known to indulge myself in total trash fiction. I guess I have eclectic musical tastes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a month in France with my family. Had a great time, enough to have started to learn French. It was great to experience a trip of a lifetime with the one's I hold dear.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure what specifically I could teach but I'd love to learn other languages, in particular, Esperanto. (Postscript - now learning French)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Local knowledge of the Gold Coast.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, France, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada
