What I Can Share with Hosts

Tips when come to Hong Kong

1. Buy a Octopus card in the airport (counter right next to the arrival gate) and get a travel map from the tourism board. (I know you can Google map. But this is still good) The Octopus card is a card for all transportation, convenience stores (7-11, circle K) , fast food shops, supermarkets and non fine dine restaurants. Top Up octopus in any convenient store. And...You could return the card before leaving HK and get the money back. Bus from the airport is cheaper and convenient than Metro.

2. WiFi services is not that popular in HK (airport wifi is perfect. McDonald? yes, Starbucks? yes but need to buy coffee first, on buses? yes but when close to the stops, not stable). Recommend you buy a sim card cost about HKD 48 (China mobile or any company or from 7-11) could use for one week including free phone call, first 2 days free data and 1.5 G internet for 5 days. You need it at least for Google map and contact your hosts right? You'll feel secure with internet around.

3. The symphony of light laser show at 8pm every night is a must if it's your first time coming to Hong Kong. Stand at the platform next to the Tsim Sha Tsui ferry in front of the cultural centre, facing the Hong Kong convention and exhibition centre. If you are non Chinese ethnic, The Museum of History at Tsim Sha Tsui is highly recommended.

4. Other activities, places or food... really depends on your own interests.

5. Hong Kong is a city with air conditioning everywhere, you may need a jacket indoor.
