About Me

**Just moved to South Philly for a bit and looking to meet up with local peeps to hang! Hit me up! We gotta revive this site / community!***

CURRENT MISSION

Last year I started my own business that I am currently growing so that I will have the time and financial freedom moving forward to see the world, sleep on your couch in your hometown, meet amazing people, and ultimately help make the world a better place!

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Memphis, TN and when I started pursuing my degree in Health Promotion I started calling myself FitGuyMemphis as a way to brand myself and make it easy for people to remember me....I now live up in NJ but the branding worked and so I kept it.... :)

With that said, I'd like to think I'm one of the most laid back, warm hearted individuals you will ever meet! I love making new friends, traveling to new places, and experiencing everything I can in life.

I thrive on the experience of meeting new people and doing new things, and this site has helped me grow as a person exponentially. It has humbled me and made me so grateful to be alive!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to be afraid: afraid of living, learning, making friends, experiencing the unknown. Too many people live in fear of each other. The greatest thing we can possess in life is lasting relationships with each other, and too many people take that for granted. I want to spread love, good will, and friendship and do my part to make the world a better place!

**If you haven't figured this out yet, the references we leave each other on our profiles is the foundation of couch surfing and why it works. It helps build community, and gives credibility to other surfers and builds a network of trust. Make sure that you friend your fellow CS'ers and give each other honest references to keep this site going. That is so important to helping keep Couch Surfing alive, and spreading our message to others!***

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been on the site almost 10+ years and have yet to surf myself! However, a few summers ago I hosted my first surfer, and that opened the flood gates...I ended up hosting and/or meeting over 50 people who surfed thru Memphis, and I can say those people definitely changed my life.

I have met some of the most amazing people in such a short period of time, and many of them are going to be life long friends. Every one of my surfers have been wonderful, and I feel like I have grown as a person after each experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch Surfing saved my life. The summer I started hosting I had just gotten out of a treatment center for alcohol dependency and was pretty down. I started hosting, and met the most amazing, kind hearted, selfless, open minded people I'd ever met...and they really helped me...just by allowing me to share my life with them, and them share theirs... I am so grateful for the life I am living now, and the people that have come into it because of Couch Surfing. I can definitely say my life is forever changed because of it, and I couldn't imagine being who I am, and where I am, without having become a part of this community.

I am definitely going to be a Couch Surfer for life. The most valuable resource we have in this life is each other, and the relationships I am forging are priceless!

I love CS.org and I love everyone, and I can't wait to meet you and show you my city!

Interests

Using my passion and knowledge in Health and Wellness to educate and empower others so that they may live a more fulfilled, vibrant life!

Music! I am a musician, and I play guitar, piano, bass, sing, and a few other instruments...I would love to host you if you are a musician so we can share musical ideas and jam, and I can try to help you get gigs if you are passing through the city!

I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, running, exercise, and motorcycles. I have been riding for 10 years and I love sharing the experience of riding with others. If you are adventurous enough, taking a tour of Memphis on the back of a bike can great!

I have taken at least 20 surfers on their first bike rides, and they loved it. I am also humbled and honored that strangers have felt they could trust me enough to ride with me :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books :
The Celestine Prophecy and other books in that Trilogy
The Alchemist -
The Motivation Manifesto by Brendon Burchard

Motivational, Positive Thinking, Self Help, Educational, Nutritional, etc..any books that help me grow as an individual and learn how to be a better person.

Sci Fi, Fantasy, Action, Motivational, comedy...everything..I'm pretty easy to entertain!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled Europe. I went to France, Italy, and Switzerland. It was for a high school trip that was chaperoned however so we were limited in what we could do. I'd love to go back on my own as an adult and experience it all over again!

Teach, Learn, Share

Refer back up to what I said in the personal philosophy section.

I believe that we are all amazing people, and some of us just have more courage to stand out and show our true selves. Society and media tries to paint a picture of an unrealistic world that does't really match up to reality, and some people hide behind mediocrity because they don't want to be different. I challenge you to dare to be different. Don't be like everyone else, and don't be afraid to shine and show yourself to the world :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My own personal life story in the hopes that they may leave with a better understanding of myself as an individual, and hopefully some wisdom from my experience that they can somehow use in navigating their own life!

-References, references, references! Getting yourself verified and adding friends and getting positive references is really the foundation of this community and is the best way to ensure a positive experience for not only yourself but new surfers and hosts as well. It is our duty as more experienced CS'ers to make sure we coach and nurture new members on the importance of using the reference system on the site to be as transparent as possible and ensure a safe experience for everyone!
