ABOUT ME

13 years ago I left Australia to travel to Europe overland. I got as far as China and then settled in Taiwan to study Chinese and earn some money. Suddenly, a decade slipped by in one of the friendliest countries on Earth. But during that time I rode a bicycle 6000 kms from Beijing to Bangkok. It was the best thing I've ever done in my life.
I traveled to India in 2001 for the Kumbhamela - the world's largest religious festival that only occurs once every 144 years.
I performed and toured with Cloudgate Dance Theatre for one spring season and endured a fortunately brief spell of fame as an actor on a very bad Taiwanese tv show.
I walked the Camino de Santiago Compostela in Spain. I started walking it on April 15, 2010. Along the way I met dozens of beautiful people, journeyed through wonderful landscapes, saw a LOT of churches, learned the value of being patient and kind (to my feet specifically, others more generally) and drank more than a few glasses of wine.
Every day was a grand adventure. It was brilliant. I miss it and the people who made it such a pleasure.
Recently, I was in Europe again for six weeks, now I'm thinking about a move!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with friends in many different places. Most recently I stayed with friends in Perth where I was woken each morning by a nine month old baby girl crawling on to my slice of floor and pulling on my beard. What better way to greet the day?
