Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To continually learn and evolve, to make things better, to care for my body and help others learn how to do the same.
ABOUT ME
I am a member of the species Homo sapiens, and I have bilateral symmetry. I am bipedal, and possess two opposable thumbs, which really come in handy.
I am a chemotroph - which means that I derive energy from the organic molecules that I ingest, mainly glucose, but also proteins and lipids. I myself am made up mostly of water, proteins, and lipids, as well as a few other types of molecules. These are some things we definitely have in common.
I am also a social animal, and I get along well with others of my species.
PHILOSOPHY
"I believe in nothing, everything is sacred. I believe in everything, nothing is sacred". - Tom Robbins
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed many times throughout the past years (my profile got deleted, along with all of my positive reviews and friends), in NZ and in the US. I've had so many great experiences!
Interests
I like bright colors, liquid water, solid water, and water vapor. I also like driving on curvy mountain roads, looking at clouds and stars, hiking, canoeing, eating vegetables, collaging, and collecting cool glass swing-top bottles.
I love life sciences and chemistry. I am passionate about social justice, and am really interested to talk with people about intersectional feminism, as well as what we can all do on a personal and global scale to continue making progress.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Tom Robbbins. Thich Nhat Hahn changed my life. Susie Bright really turns me on. Joel Fuhrman taught me how to Eat to Live. Jessica Valenti, Ariel Levy, Naomi Wolf, Peggy McIntosh, and others showed me how great women are, and how sucky patriarchy is (not that I'd want a matriarchy either). But I can also get along with people who aren't into all that.
I like a lot of different kinds of music. I really like Beck, Animal Collective, MGMT, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pixies, Cibo Matto, Modest Mouse, the Strokes, Cocorosie, Belle and Sebastian, Kimya Dawson, Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, Gravy Train!!!!, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Moldy Peaches, Salt n' Pepa, The Aquabats, Primus, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Sleater-Kinney, Elliot Smith, Dead Milkmen, Miles Davis, Ray Charles, Flight of the Concords, and more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching my house mate's dog give birth was pretty amazing. It was the only time I've ever seen an animal give birth in person.
Also, in the Abel Tasman National Park in New Zealand, on a beach at night, Ashley Garcia (a friend on here and BFF in real life) and I saw faint blue flashes of light in the water. We figured that they must've been jellyfish - but it was one of the most phenomenal sights I've seen.
In the Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park, in CO, some friends and I hiked in before sunset, and spent all night in the dunes. The sky had this amazing dome effect going on, and we watched the moon rise and then set, the clouds and stars move across the sky, and a beautiful thunderstorm -- but we didn't get rained on. It was an amazing night.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a bit about general, organic, and biochemistry, a well as basic biology and theory of evolution. Also, I think I know more about nutrition than the average American -- did you know that no other human culture has been so confused about what kinds of food are actually healthy and what kinds are not? Since when have people needed scientists to tell them what to eat? Since the industrial revolution, I guess . . .
