ABOUT ME

I am Chu Yuan or you can call me Ben.
I am a Singaporean Chinese living in Singapore one of the most beautiful and modern cities in Asia.

My love for travelling started in 2012 when I went to Germany with my university professor to Munich for a cultural exchange. Then after that I went solo packing in UK to meet two of my best childhood friends who are studying there. The whole journey was planned by myself and it was really the best one month of my entire life thus far!

Then following that I went on a solo packing trip in Taiwan visiting places like Taipei, Taizhong and Kending. The memorable encounters that I had during my 9 days is life changing. I met two different American immigrants one from Taiwan and the other from Germany and understand so much about there culture and lifestyles as a teacher and a investment banker in the States, such a wonderful experience.

Hence I want to show my passion for travelling to everyone out there and when you are travelling the world does not have boundaries.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in this world there is no such thing as an enemy, only people that have yet to find similarities.

The best way to travel is with a local, without a fix itinerary and spontaneity!!!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I knew of CS through online when I was reading sites like Lonely Planet. The concept really attracted me as the experience is the exact one I am looking for; straight forward and direct contact with the local population and lifestyle is what I am looking for in my trips.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first CS surfing experience is a truly memorable one. I met a very interesting friend and she really led me into a life of a local Vietnamese which I really appreciate and love the experience.

兴趣

I love to exercise especially running and body workouts. My usual workout routine consists of pull ups, 3km run, sit ups, crunches and push ups.

Reading is good habit of mine. I have keen interest in nutrition, psychology and finance.

Mountain climbing is another hobby that I do whenever I am overseas. Because there are no mountains in Singapore so I have to go abroad to scale them haha.

I love to travel to exotic places and live a local life rather than been a tourist.

Favorite Movie Series of All Time: The Matrix

I listen a wide variety of music from Korean to Mandarin to English. As long as the tune is catchy, I will definitely love it. My favorite band is Simple Plan. Their songs are all so awesome.

I completed a physics degree!

Explored 20 cities in USA during my exchange in Tulane University in New Orleans.

Visited the tallest waterfall in Colombia, Cascada La Chorrera.
