About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I am currently in the states about to represent Australia at the National Poetry Slam in Denver. I will be visiting LA and possibly San Francisco on this trip too but I am super excited and honoured to be doing this exciting thing.

ABOUT ME
I am a passionate and creative queer mother. My art is my work and my work is my passion. I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to be able to say that.
I love dance, ecstatic dance, free dance and more. I love art, community, food and poetry.
I try to live my life and wholesomely as I can with a mindfulness of the Earth and all its creatures.

I spent over a decade of my life traveling and adventuring around the world.
I spent 6 years of that time travelling without and airplane and hitchhiking/public transporting my way across the world. I managed localised UK and EU travel and also traveled across to Thailand. I ended up living in Asia for 2 years before flying to Australia to focus on my Spoken Word.

Then it all changed haha. Within a year I had a baby and now I live in Melbourne where I run one of the biggest monthly spoken word events in town and teach courses in authentic public speaking whilst spending my days running around with an incredible little lady.

I would describe myself as a queer, spiritual mother and poet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've 'couchsurfed' officially and non officially for a long time, the kindness of people bringing me in off the streets over the years has warmed me so much, reminded me of the true kindness in spirit. I spent many years living on and off the streets as a hippy and never once felt judged by a couch surfing host.
Now I am a suburban mummy artist haha

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ive stayed on different peoples couches all over the world, on floors, back rooms, farms, trailors, i even stayed at a radio station once and a church hall another time.
I have officially couch surfed in England, France, Spain, Morroco, Portugal, Latvia, Russia, Japan and China but travelled to other places staying with people too.

It was a delight to be able to return the favor also when I got my own place though I don't host as much now I have a kid.

Interests

I have a passion for authenticity and connection, my work is focused on it. I also love playing music and creating and crafting as well as nature and being with both the people and the land.
I am passionate about the rise of womens and marginalised voices and use my work with Mother Tongue (my poetry event) to support that. Www.mothertonguepoetry.com

Music, Movies, and Books

Love poems from God, Legacy of Luna, The Northern Light Trilogy, The Red Tent, Womans Bodies Womans Wisdom, Kafka on the Shore, Dharma Bums. Music- all music, stuff with attitude, conscious lyrics, heart and soul.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Travel across the world without an airplane.
- Birth a child in my own lounge room.
- 10 years ago I spent a summer cycling around Wales with The Otesha Project UK teaching kids about enviromental issues and global social issues with a theatre show and workshops, that was amazing. In feb 2011 I joined Spark Circus and visited the refugee camps, orphanages and schools at the Burmese border spreading joy, fun, playfulness and red noses to the children who live in the camps.

Teach, Learn, Share

I bring my self, in all my truth. I will share what I know and learn what I don't.
I can do a lot of traditional crafts including spinning, basket weaving, book binding, crochet, knitting and more and love to share and learn these skills.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Passionate conversation, poetry, space and time if they want a more quiet guest. I'm a people person (as a double Gemini) but I also love to get a lot of alone time.

Countries I’ve Visited
